Sebastian Vettel insists the 24-point gap between himself and Mark Webber is not as big as it looks as he bids to become Red Bull's first World Champ.

Vettel and his team-mate Webber are just two of the five drivers still involved in this year's title fight with Webber leading the way on 187 points while Vettel is the final driver in the running with 163.

However, the German, who has claimed seven pole positions but only two race wins this season, is adamant the gap is not as big as it may appear.

"Whether I'm not 24, 25 or 30 points behind I still could not care less. The new points system scares people more than necessary," Vettel told the Bild.

"Many are not yet familiar with it and that a win counts for 25 points. If I was eight or nine behind with the old system where there were ten for a victory, then it would all look much less dramatic."

Vettel, though, has had a mixed season, coming for a great deal of cricitism as a result of two high profile accidents.

The first saw him take out his team-mate in Turkey while in Belgium he crashed into McLaren's Jenson Button.

But despite the complaints, which had McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh labeling him a "crash kid", the Red Bull racer says he has not once doubted his ability to win the World title.

"In peace lies strength," he added. "We are not panicking but continue to work quietly.

"I believe I can win the title and that is crucial!"

I'll probably run 8-12 lap races, maybe do one or two of those in an evening, makes for an interesting night, not too long, or too short, Pit stops, collisions and all the rules will be on :)

But for the first races, I'll try and say do 30% race distance with pit stops so everyone can get a good feel for the game on a game night and we won't take points for it, Just something where we can all enjoy playing online :)

haha, I do like your Idea Omen, I will impiment that for when we do it, A points system sounds like fun, we can run a series of game nights over the winter season of F1, and say every other weekend if we can all make it, host a race on a different circuit and such, I'm happy to do that and keep the points tallied up for that :)

Briton Dean Stoneman has secured a test with the Williams Formula One team after winning the F2 title.

Ninth place at Spain's Valencia Circuit in the first of this weekend's final round of races gave him an unassailable lead over compatriot Jolyon Palmer.

The Southampton 20-year-old also qualifies for the FIA superlicence that allows him to race in F1.

"Getting into F1 has always been my dream, and this just brings me one step closer to that," said Stoneman.

This year was Stoneman's debut in F2, which is a feeder series for F1, and he finished the season with six victories.

"It's hard to know what to expect but it's obviously a fantastic opportunity to be testing a Williams Formula One car, so hopefully I can prove myself," added Stoneman.

"I'm just going to go there and do what I do best: get in the car and drive as fast as I can."

Stoneman will get his chance for Williams in the young drivers' test in Abu Dhabi at the end of the F1 season.

"Stoneman and Palmer have really stretched out above the rest of the field, but what we'll all really find out is what happens when Stoneman gets in a F1 car and we should see that at Abu Dhabi," said Williams technical director Sam Michael.

In the 2008 Formula Renault UK series, Stoneman finished with a better record than Lewis Hamilton managed in his debut year in the competition.

Unless a genuine mistake is made cutting chicanes as in racing would result in penalty, any delibrate attempts to cut corners is unsportsmanlike IMO, and It would be best to maintain, clean, close, and fast racing. :)

Yea definetly, and as we are all keen lovers of F1 I think we all know whats reasonable in playing dirty and whats clean racing, accidents are bound to happen, we're racers lol, But lets not play dirty, Any dirty playing will result in a 1 game night ban, and if this keeps happening, will continue until 3 game night ban and if further persistance is happening, full time ban.

I'm not for one second saying people are gonna do it, but I wanna lay down the law with this incase anyone does get any bright ideas lol

I'll do my best to set up a night in say early-mid october, this way we've all had some experience with the game :)
