I disagree with everybody, the games you are mentioning are still decent games and the story-line may be ridiculous, but it's still coherent. Try playing House of the Dead 2 for the Dreamcast, it is a mind explosion of wtf.

Although I somewhat agree with the Assassin's Creed thing, seems like the story-line could have been executed better in a more believable way.

If you read through the small amount of the post you linked, it seems to me to be some sort of online-RPG-anime-writing-thingy

Sorry, but I don't buy into the video game addiction thing seeing as video games aren't really a chemical and therefore you can't get physically dependant on them. I merely think that some people prefer the social atmosphere of a game (anonymity of this atmosphere in particular) and prefer that to real life situations.

But it's not unethical to make an expansion and sell it for money just because a lot of people will buy it, then label those who buy it as addicted to video games because you don't see any other reason why they would purchase it unless they were addicted to video games.

I've seen this exact thread and question within the last week. Just search it and you will probably find 5 others.
