It's timeless because games that might look realistic right now will look like relative crap in the next 10 years. On the other hand, games who focus on their art style rather than computing power will always look good., even in the next 10 years.Andol_93Agreed, just look at Grim Fandango. The game is 12 years old but they made it in such a way that it still looks good.

Why do you want to delete them?
They don't take up a lot of room on the hard drive. Seems like it is more work than it is worth. Just make sure they are all gone once you uninstall the game.
[QUOTE="kodyoo"]Hardly a game I would call "fresh." Seeing as it is pretty similar to the past two Elder Scroll games. Mainly Oblivion. Haha, yeah, maybe "fresh" wasn't the word I was looking for. I guess "Not-a-traditional-FPS" fits a little better...I don't have a very advanced computer, but my friend is obsessed with Fallout 3, which seems to be pretty fresh in terms of an FPS/RPG kind of game.

I'm not going to lie, I enjoy games post 2004 or so more than some of the really old games, but it's only because of the graphics. For example, I have a hard time playing thief metal age because the graphics hurt my brain.
I think another thing that is holding back the industry is deadlines. There are many many games out now that had an amazing amount of potential but were rushed and came out crappy/buggy/poorly-written. But that's the thing, you have to have deadlines or games won't get finished and the company won't make money to fund the next project. Especially in today's game market that focuses on the new flavor of the week.

All videogames have pretty much the worst story ever. It only gets really bad when a designer tries to tell a story and ends up doing it really, really badly, all the while thinking he's totally awesome.

I disagree. I believe some games actually create better stories than what you can find in books and film. It's when the developer really commits himself to tell a story, basically. Games are just as capable as a narrative form, there's nothing to hold them back.
But to be on topic, I've never played a game with that horrible of a story. The games that have truly bad stories are the ones that have become obscure due to its overall suckiness. But if I had to choose, I'm not a fan of Fallout 3's story. It's an interesting premise, but its execution left a lot to be desired, IMO.
You're welcome to your point, but are you honestly positing that videogames have stories equal to literary greats like War and Peace? The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? Hamlet?
As I said, you're welcome to your point, but the only thing I think we've established here is that you need to read more books. Soda pop bubblegum trash fiction like the games industry puts out is fine considering the youthful age of the medium, but seriously now -- you've never played a game with a horrible story?
I have to agree. I don't even like reading, but even i've found those books that I really like and have stories that have stuck with me over time. However, there is maybe 1 or 2 games that I can think of that even came close to a story that I really enjoyed, but none came close to some of the books that I have read. That's not to say that every book I've read is better than every game I've played.I don't have a very advanced computer, but my friend is obsessed with Fallout 3, which seems to be pretty fresh in terms of an FPS/RPG kind of game.
Seriously, are these topics necessary?
If you go on any game, there will be people on the servers.
Including COD1, MOHAA, UT1, Return to Castle wolfenstein, ETC ETC ETC.
And not everyone who plays those games are going to be coming on gamespot to look for these threads and say "Oh, I'm still playing this game", then leave and go on their merry way.
My point is that althought the graphics have moved forward it seems like game play has moved back and its more watered down to attract casual gamers.Does anyone else feel the same way?fubbalYou summed it up perfectly right here. The graphics have moved forward, but game play has moved backwards. Before amazing graphics, I think that the writing had to be better so people would be more into the game and story line, because these were not supported very well by the current graphics. Now that graphics are improved greatly, it is easier to get submerged into the alternate world (visually and audibly), and you tend to get less distracted by bad writing or poor story telling. And more amused by the bells-and-whistles.
