This is the screen that i'm talking about:

I am installing this on a laptop, and this screen just sits there even after i've waited over a half-hour. The laptop had Vista on it before but one of the system files somehow got deleted, so i'm trying a Vista repair installation. Please help:(

Actually, the 360 is not being left out in the cold. (Well for now it is I guess)

From http://teamfortress.com/:

"We are actively working on a massive XBox 360 update, which will include pretty much everything we've shipped on the PC in the last year. We'll provide you with a rough date when we have one."

Oh, and the update is awsome :D Love the new teleporters, really speeds up the gameplay. Also the spy being able to pick up weapons to recharge his clock makes him much faster paced. (No more waiting around for clock)

Budget? HD 4850's are going as cheap as $150, and wil run nearly all games at max settings. (You should get a mix of high/very high settings in Crysis). Or for $240 you can get a GTX 260 in which I don't know if there are any games you can't completely max out with anti-aliasing. (Besides Crysis)

I think you are going to have to say good bye to older games gamerloks

I'm running 64-bit vista and have had no problems getting any older games working, even dos games. :P (As long as you use dos-box)

I would recommend Vista, I really like the look of it and have run into very few bugs. Oh and to those who say Vista is a memory hog, Vista only uses a lot of memory when you are not running any demanding programs, and will decrease memory usage when a demanding app is opened. Proof

Hey,

In terms of computer hardware, I almost have no idea. So I really don't know how my rig rates compared to others. I honestly haven't posted specs before, so if I put in a lot of unnecessary information just tell me. It's a two-year-old computer.

Asus P5LD2-VM/C Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6200 1.86Ghz
Seagate 160Gb 7200rpm 8mb 3.5" ATA100
RAM Transcend 1Gb PC5300 DDRII 667mhz
Asus EN7100GS 128Mb DDR2 Support to 512Mb TV/DVI PCI-Express
(apparently this is the graphics card according to my receipt)
NVIDIA GeForce 7100 GS 512Mb Intergrated RAMDAC (This is not mentioned on the receipt)

NEC 17" LCD 72VX-BK (DVI) 8ms Response 1280x1024
Windows XP Home
Some crappy keyboard and mouse (cost $30.00 for both of them)
Simple case
16x cd-reader and burner

I just need to clear up a few things. I've heard that for example a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz is slower than an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz. Is this true at all?

With this computer what games will I be able to run? I'd love it if I could run the new COD. I've tried Battlefield 2, and I was able to run it on Medium overall settings in windowed mode at about 25-30fps.

Thanks for any help,
Franciscoec

The three things bolded are the main things that you want to post, although you presented it in a clean manner so it wasn't at all bothersome ;) Yes, it is true that a Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz is faster than a Pentium 4, and your system doesn't meet the minium requirements for Call of Duty 5. The only thing that you would need to upgrade would be your videocard, although if you bought an extra gigayte of RAM that would really help keep the framerate smooth, and an extra gigabyte of RAM these days is dirt cheap. A video card to run Call of Duty 5 nicely isn't at all expensive, and would maybe cost you about $70-$110 (Depending on what settings you want to run it at)

Although before you go out and buy a video card, you have to knew the maximum amount of watts and amperage your powersupply outputs, and if you crack open the case on your computer and look at the label on the powersupply:

That will tell you everything you need to know and we could recommend a videocard according to your powersupply :)

Sounds more like PC gaming wasn't for him in the first place. He's frusterated at having to tweak the graphics to get the smoothest framerate while maintaining the highest graphics fidelity? Personally thats one of the things I enjoy about PC gaming.
