Song List? Depends on what songs you like. I strongly prefer Rock Band's.
Hardware Reliability? Guitar Hero 3, but Rock Band has free replacements of any broken instruments that is a very pleasant process that doesnt take long.
I don't understand the last question. I will say that Rock Band has much MUCH MUCH more Downloadable Content that is either available, or will be available soon.
I really enjoy Rock Band, much more than Guitar Hero 3. The game may not be challenging if you have no problems beating Devil Went Down to Georgia and TTFAF on GH3 Expert when it comes to the guitar part. But the drums take a while to get good at and once you do, you should have no problems learning a real set.
i am still planning on getting guitar hero 3 instead of rock band because i dont feel like wasting money if im only planning on playing the guitar part..
and also i havent played any other guitar hero games, so im new to it and all....hopefully it wont be too hard as long as i keep it on easy. i played it at my friends and was terrible :psly_fiz
I wouldnt have responded if you didnt mention that you were new to the franchise. If that is so, then I believe Rock Band is the better choice. The transition from Easy to Medium to Hard to Expert in Rock Band is much smoother than Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero 3 is all about the difficulty being insanely hard. You could always get just the game and a Guitar Hero 2 controller to play Rock Band guitar parts with. There is a ton more downloadable content to choose from too, with much more on the way.
With that said, it is always up to you. I have played both extensively and I found Rock Band much more enjoyable and look forward to purchasing a copy for myself when I get my Xbox 360.

My problem is that it doesn't look like there is a great soundtrack on that one.
I would have said the same thing (about the Canadian release, not the soundtrack. I LOVE the soundtrack) but I forgot about it because my buddy went down to the States to buy it so I play it at his house. I am indeed angry that it was delayed here in Canada but I am not getting my 360 until christmas so it doesn't really affect me anyway.
You guys should go to the support site (http://support.ea.com/rockband/) and get your guitars replaced. It sounds like you guys got the older version of the guitar. The replacement guitar is much more reliable and the strumming feels much nicer.
I honestly have no gripes with the game the way it is. The music selection is phenomenal, much better than GH3's and the notecharts are very accurate and fun to play.
