Loving the art direction and the intriguing story so far. The whimsical characters and setting create a wonderful tone for this unique game as well. However, not really feeling the actual gameplay loop as of yet. Only a few hours in and it's already feeling a bit repetitive and dull. You get some interesting dialogue and exposition to move the story along. Make a mundane choice about which area to "explore". Some more exposition.
Then you get to play the actual game i.e. the Rites. Which amounts to little more than grabbing the orb, running a circle around the opposing the team, shooting the orb, repeat and win match.
Then repeat the whole thing over again.
And the music is good but nothing stellar. Lays a nice backdrop to the setting but does little in the way of drawing you into the world or emphasizing any key moments.
So far, the game's story and characters are enough to keep me interested but the overall package is kind of meh, IMO. Here's hoping it ramps up a bit and breaks the so far repetitive loop.
