Are you trying to play videos that worked before, because the 360 won't play all avi files. It will only play video's that are encoded with certain video and audio codec's.
Your mbps is not that important as long as it's some form of broadband. What is important is your connection time (commonly known as your PING) this is what will give you lag free online. If you want to know how to test your ping just google it. There is tons of info out there

This is not the first time blu ray has been pirated. Blu Ray was cracked about two weeks after it came out. there have been dvd size blu ray movie rips available for download almost since blu ray came out. this is not anything new
