And yet the PS3 cant(ofcourse until and unless its forcefully done).Thats called a design.
You want to hear what the PS3 sounds like when it overheats?

Mine had overheating problems, it was louder then my fan and my xbox 360. It was extremely annoying to try and watch movies to.
I dont believe you :).Come one man who you kidding ? There are some PS3s at fault....i can post a vid of my PS3 it NEVER makes that much of noise.
I don't really have a reason to lie though, I am not a fanboy. PS3s can overheat and when they do, they are extremely loud. If you would like to hear the sound try turning off your PS3 with the switch on the back then hold the power button on the front and flip the switch back to on(this is only if you have the newer models).
 Facepalm.
You are actually comparing the PS3s FAN TEST to what it sounds like while functioning ?That test takes it to the MAX RPM.Its in NO-WAY what it can sound like while playing a game.To correct you fan test is enabled by holding the eject button and flipping the rear switch NOT the power button.
Whatever the case maybe you still havent proved on how it will sound louder than your 360.
