for those of you perhaps worried about the difficulty, when showcasing a game developers always play on a difficulty which allows them to get through the content they want to show smoothly. Second to that, i love co-op, and I am sure it will be great fun, the whole dementia thing sounds great, but no matter how many fancy game mechanics you use, the addition of another player always kills the scare factor, for me at least. With the recent disaster of Resi 6 I am worried we are loosing another great horror game to the action/shooter genre.
The truth is that in ALL forms of media and entertainment sexualisation and sterotypes are used to portray things, both male and female. Its a way to show something in its purist form. The sexual appeal of men and women is at the core of human nature. Is Kratos or Marcus anymore of a honest representation of males then their female counterparts(samus or Lara).?
Its entertainment, we are here to be entertained,Just like Marcus is all man, Lara is all woman, the sexuality of these characters in part are what make them the appealing heroic protagonist they are.We strive to be like them, most protagonists in games are meant to present a perfection of what being a "man" and being a "woman" is, and sexuality is central to that. Its part of out genetic makeup, just as women seek a tall, manly, muscular person as an ideal mate, men seek women who have a big bust and wide hips etc, its science, human nature, if its a flaw then its our race as a whole, not something gender specific.
I have never played a diablo game before, my feelings are quite mixed about it, its fun, and the challenge quickly picks up, however, I find for a game which has generated a lot of hype it falls short in my eyes. The environments are fairly bland for a game world which isn't particularly large or long which is another thing i found disappointing, For a game spent so long development it just feels like they could have done more. I also found that the option to skip events and dialogue for other players a real story killer, specially considering that i want to play through it with others.I think the argument about it being online all the time is valid, although it is done to prevent hacking, which when dealing with real money AH is much more serious. For me, i would say like nearly all games which have been in production for so long, just fail to quite live up to the hype and expectation.
regardless of the thrill and excitement of death around the corner, i personally get pissed off enough when i get lag in call of duty,to loose a character after hours upon hours of investment for those same reasons? i'd be writting me mam a suicide note.
reading this, probaly like everyone else really makes me feel HC ALL THE WAY!!. truth is once you have invested even just 10 hours into a character only to die, and having to sludge through the exact same quests again, thats just not appealing to me. especially considering it might happen because of lag or connection loss, wheres the fun or "glorious death" in that.
meh, i love a challenge, but this seems preety stupid to me.The fact that this is online only means that there are things outside of a players skill which mean you can pour tons of hours into a game only to be lost due to lag or connection loss which happens to everyone, or futher more another player etc resulting in your own death. Why dont they just implement a reward system which grants players extra lives for completing hard bosses or reaching certain parts/levels in the game. It wouldnt kill the challenge because perm death is still there but prolongs the expereince and gives a lifeline to players when thing go south that are outside of a players control.
