[QUOTE="DeeJayInphinity"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]I actually don't want them to do anything any differently than they're doing it. But given how many people seem to regularly dislike reviews, maybe they'd like a new crew more like what they have at C|Net...saying glowing things about electronics for 80% of a a review and only mentioning the shortcomings in passing. :?
Dreams-Visions
Like I said, fanboys are impossible to satisfy. Someone somewhere will complain about every review GS will ever post no matter who writes it.
If Gamespot is too cowardly to accept that criticism, it doesn't belong in this business.
That's it, that's the bottom line. If they are going to overhaul their editorial staff because of a few fanboys' biased opinions on a review, **** gamespot.
A review should not be mostly good or mostly bad, it should point out the most important aspects of the game, wether they are bad or not.
I can't disagree with that.
But remember, my friend...business isn't always so simple. Like that Penny Arcade alluded to, sometimes when given the choice between being morally right or being able to feed your family, pay your rent, buy ham for little Suzie's lunch next week and put gas in your car...people choose the later over the former.
Gamespot is in a tight position where they have to depend on their ad revenue. And like I said last night, part of that is OUR FAULT.
We demand everything be free. We want free access to videos. Free reviews. Free bandwidth. Free technologically-advanced web forums. Free *everything*. But nothing is life is free...and the costs have to be made up somewhere.
that means selling banner ads...and the biggest buyers are game publishers and developers who want to shine the spotlight on their products. Its only logical.
I'm not saying it's fair...I'm simply saying the stuff is not simple black and white. Most of the people posting here are kids who don't understand how tough some life decisions are. The older some people get here, the more they'll have to lose. The more they have to lose, the harder it'll be to make these decisions. Sometimes there is no right decision at all. Just a choice between who to negatively impact more.
Meh. Real life sucks sometimes.
And what do you know of real life my friend? What great trials and tribulations have you overcome that qualify you to downplay the significance of someone else's problems?
