@Darion350: Usually not, as I've heard it. Most things I've heard called "tabletop" games don't use a board, such as Warhammer.

@elheber: For the record, make sure to check the numbers on the left of the graph. If you got the impression they lost 3/4 or so of subscribers, then you have been mislead.

@Utnayan: "Hell, I saw 25 copies alone cross platform at my local best buy and that was only one store"

I decided I should address this point. Stores don't usually fill their shelves with things that aren't selling. If a store has a lot of them on the shelves, that means they think a lot of them will be bought, so they need to be sitting out available. If "more items on shelves -> item isn't selling well" were true, then I would guess that nobody buys milk, eggs, or bread, which far outnumber a lot of other things on grocery store shelves. That would suggest that Coca Cola sells worse than, say meatless corn dogs. I mean, I saw at least 50 12-packs of Coca Cola on shelves, but only about 5 packs of meatless corn dogs. However, I am reasonably certain that Coca Cola sells better than meatless corn dogs, and is thus a perfect example of your premise being false.

@Utnayan: Not wrong, just old. I said that hours ago, it has changed since then.

@Utnayan: Also, as near as I can tell, there are more people playing Battlefront right now than Battlefield 4, unless I misunderstood you.

@Utnayan: Correct, a lot of them are sitting on shelves waiting to be sold. That is because stores have requested that many, because they think they will be sold. His comment implied that "shipped" meant nothing, but this is false: "shipped" means "retailers have requested, because they think they will sell". That is not nothing.

"it is safe to assume"

Unfortunately, it is rarely safe to assume anything.

@bluebird08: Publishers don't sell to customers directly, they just ship to retailers. Thus, they don't have any capacity for tracking "sold to customers" by themselves, as that is the other companies' financial data. However, even though not all of those copies have been bought, it isn't as though they've been shipped just anywhere. The retailers have requested that many copies, which means it is on-target to sell about that many. That is what investors would want know (note that this was from an earnings report, it wasn't meant as some sort of advertisement). While it doesn't technically specify how many have been sold, it is a good indicator, and the best indicator to which they have access because they doesn't sell the games themselves.
