@NoahRoalson: Perfect, thank you! That information cleared up the confusion perfectly.

You have misinterpreted the data. It doesn't not say how many people have played in the last day, it says the maximum amount of people who have been playing at once in the last day. It could be that 100k people play it one hour, and the hour a completely different 100k people play it. I doubt the players are completely different from hour to hour, but there is no way to say how many people still play in the game at all based solely on how many people play are playing at any given time. Because "player retention" is the former number, and not the latter, we have no way of even estimating "player retention".

@NoahRoalson: "people are playing it at any given time"

"have played online in the last day"

Okay, so now I'm not sure which you're saying. Where are you getting these numbers? Maybe I can clear this up.

"it will be impossible to calculate anything specific"

Certainly, but I am accusing you of misleading, by saying "people playing at any given time / (units shipped or sold, either way)" = "player retention", because "player retention" would refer to how many people still play it at all, not at any given time. I accept that you don't know how many are sold, but I don't accept that "people playing at any given time" is the metric to use in "player retention".

@NoahRoalson: Around 100,000 at any given time, yes? So, to be specific, 0.76% is the percentage of people playing at any given time, out of copies shipped. The number of people playing every day, week, or month, is very likely significantly higher than the number playing at any given moment. "Percentage of people playing at any given time, out of copies shipped" is not a representation of "player retention", and is unlikely to reflect something like "percentage of people playing each week, out of copies sold (or even shipped)".

@NoahRoalson: "Average player count at any given time" is not the sort of number that would be used in a "player retention" statistic. "Player retention" would refer to how many people are still playing it at all, so, at the very least, it should be "average player count on any given day", but probably "week" or "month" would be more appropriate.

Edit: This is in addition to the already-mentioned problem of using "shipped" instead of "sold".

@wookiegr: They have promised not to remove games. As soon as they break that promise, even for old sports games, they risk losing consumer confidence.

@treos2: Lol, I say "show me where he said it had been about equality", you say, "he didn't say that, he said it had been about equality (but isn't anymore)". Boy do I feel stupid : P . Funny, funny stuff.

Edit: Just to be clear, to me "had ever been" is past tense, just like "used to". I guess I'm just not bright enough to understand English like you?

@the_groosalugg: That's not even close to what bigotry is. Furthermore, they aren't blocking people's thoughts, they are blocking someone from making something and selling it. They can think whatever they want. They can probably even make this if they want. They can't sell it, and they might not be able to mass-distribute it. No one is blocking them from having thoughts.

@theothersider: "you would be hard pressed to call it bias."

Incorrect. It is easy to call it bias, just tough to provide any evidence. Fortunately for people on the internet, evidence is completely unnecessary to believe something true. Half the people here probably believe in a Flying Spaghetti Monster, too.
