Crossing my fingers for a new Deus Ex. Maybe something about the next Splinter Cell. Definitely interested in seeing some more info about Far Cry 4. Also hoping there's some great gems I've never heard of.
for clarification, this game was never on Steam Greenlight. It was added to the Steam Storefront as a complete finished game. It didn't need to be greenlit.
@kenundrum7 @eze_sl89 @liquidbutter The writing is genuinely bad. I mean, even the Aiden "it's my fault she's dead" line is delivered way too early and holds no weight at that point. Should have had him say it after his sister finds out he's the vigilante. Then he could have had an actual human moment shouting something like "It's my fault. I'm got mixed up with bad people. They were after me and they killed her. I'm responsible for her death and that's why I can't stop."
There's tons of moments like that in the game where they deliver the story elements in terribly meaningless ways.
Something is bothering me about the crime detection thing. If their surveillance system is so advanced, why do people still need to call 911 when someone is wildly shooting in a crowded public space? I understand that your identity is censored from their system, but the obvious frantic rush of people screaming and running away from a scene as gunshots are heard should be a pretty obvious clue the ctOS would pick up on. At least send up a red flag for a human monitor. Also, only 1 witness calls the cops. Unless you've been murdering tons of people and preventing 3 or 4 people from calling the cops, until finally 2 people start calling the cops at the same time. I've had 10-20 people running down the street to get away from me with only 1 calling the cops. If you run up to the one witness and throw their phone down, there's no more calls to the police at all. You could have a dead body on a busy sidewalk. Everyone who sees it looks horrified then runs away. None of them call the cops though. I do like the witness mechanic. It's something I always wanted in GTA, to know exactly who is calling the cops on me, but it's a little dumb. I mean, supposedly the ctOS system can't detect you, but if someone successfully calls the cops a ctOS scan will detect you, no matter how innocent you are being.
This is a big reason why this game needed to focus more on the surveillance system in the story. Not just because it was the most interesting aspect of the game, but also because there's elements of it that beg for an explanation. "how does it work" is never really addressed and it leaves huge plot holes in the story as well as the gameplay.
