@strangelove_1 @liquidbutter Here's something without exaggeration: Exxon drilling in the Arctic when, by their own studies and admission, they would have no idea how to fix it or clean it if something springs a leak.
@strangelove_1 @liquidbutter Even with train cars exploding all the time and the Gulf of Mexico turned to sludge? That's not a viable future I want to live in.
@strangelove_1 @liquidbutter Some would say oil spills destroying natural habitats and communities and entire economies isn't viable. Especially when there's no real advances in how to clean that crap up.
@strangelove_1 I think everyone could be happier if we just built more green energy. More electricity for the grip and jobs that can't be outsourced. Except for conservatives that just hate it purely because liberals like it.
@pyro1245 @liquidbutter @Dieknochenblume It's not just about saving power though. As long as your devices are being charged, their lifespan is lowering. You can make your electronics last much longer by stopping them from using power when not in use.
Energy consumption isn't really the problem. Growing electricity usage is just apart of our growing civilizations. Sure, we should find ways to use that electricity as efficiently as we can, but we're going to keep growing in power usage as long as we're still advancing. We just need to find smarter ways of collecting massive amounts of energy.
@pyro1245 @Dieknochenblume Not silly, just highly inconvenient. Likely also a pain in the ass since plugs are usually behind or underneath everything we're using.
@loudangryjerk @liquidbutter Ahh I see. His critique should have been that they can always be tricked by the same distraction over and over again without ever catching on. I guess "smart AI" would be if you threw out a series of bottles and after a given number they go into an alert mode and start searching for the bottle thrower.
