What's a Girl Gotta Do Around Here?

So I have been cleaning up some orphaned person guides over the past few days... I've got three new guides and still did not level up... What the heck man? I should think all that hard work would be rewarded

My new guides are Jeff Probst, the lovely Connie Britton, hottie Talor Kitsch, and I am working on the other Friday Night Lights resident hottie Minka Kelly.

All the guides are shiny and pretty now so if you are interested in any of these people please stop by... Especially curious what any of you X-Men fans think of Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in the upcoming Wolverine movie.

Thanks for stopping by... End Rant :P

N. is Here

Stephen King has once again partnered with MARVEL to re-tell one of his stories in graphic novel format, this time bringing a short story to life in what they are calling graphic videos.

It is drawn in typical comic book pen and ink, but is presented as a video with narration... Very interesting to this rabid King fan.

It is available through iTunes and the NisHere.com website.

The official description is below... Check it out and let me know what you think... I am especially interested in what the comic purists think of this format (You know who you are =)

Stephen King's N

The Official Blurb:

Master storyteller Stephen King presents a revolutionary new form of entertainment: his short story "N." brought to vibrant life through a series of 25 graphic video episodes. The original series tells the story of a psychiatrist who falls victim to the same deadly obsession as his patient—an obsession that just might save the world!

Drawn by award-wining comic book artist Alex Maleev, and colored by famed comic book colorist José Villarrubia, the episodes were adapted by Marc Guggenheim, co-creator of the ABC-TV series "Eli Stone" with creative oversight from Stephen King.

Doctor Who Question

First off I am so enjoying this season/series of Doctor Who, but I have a question I'm hoping you guys can help me with...

I am confused about the Hand... The Doctor has it in the Tardis all the time, but doesn't Captain Jack have the same hand in Torchwood?

Thanks!

DSL vs. Cable: The Epic Battle

I need some help from you all...

I'm thinking of switching my AT&T phone service over to a digital, Vonage type, service... Which made me think I should switch my not so speedy DSL to Cable Modem as well...

So I already have Comcast (Boo-Hiss) cable service and thought I would check out the Comcast Triple Play... TV, Phone and Internet all for $99 a month... I'm paying at least twice that now for all three of those things through differnt vendors...

So what I need to know is...

  • Do any of you have digital phone service... Vonage, T-Mobile, Comcast, etc... Do you like it?

  • Who has switched from DSL to Cable modem and is it better, worse, the same?
  • Anyone have the Comcast Triple Play package? Would you reccomend it?

Please talk amongst yourselves and enjoy one of my favorite summer brewskis while you're at it!

Thanks in advance for your help on this!!

Did I Miss a Memo?

I might me crazy, but I swear like 20 of my friends on this here site have changed their avatars recently...

I was reviewing comments on my blog and all there were all these new avatars and I was like hey, strangers, out of my crib... then I realized they weren't strangers they were folks I know with new haircuts and I couldn't recognize anyone...

Stop trying to confuse me kids, I'm older and resistant to change...

Late Night Movie Review: The Dark Knight

What is left to be said about this movie? It's BRILLIANT!

The Dark Knight

And I don't mean a brilliant Batman movie... It's a Brilliant movie that just happens to have Batman in it... I was going to say that I think DC has just raised the bar for Super Hero movies... but my buddy said it better when he said...

I think we have just witnessed the birth of Comic Book Movie 2.0 - a real evolution of the species. An incredible psychological thriller that happens to have The Batman in it...

All the hype is true, for once, Heath Ledger is just fantastic, he really elevates the art of movie villains and I think it will be a long time before another villain captivates audiences the way Ledger's Joker does.

I don't want to ruin what I think is the most hysterical part of the whole movie, but the scene at the hospital just adds an exclamation point to Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. To be able to make you uncomfortable watching him one minute and then have you laughing the next... again, Brilliant!

I'm not just recommending you see this movie... I'm recommending you see it twice... Once for the plot and story lines and a second time to really study and enjoy the characters and enjoy the glory that is The Joker.

Mid Day Movie Review - Hellyboy II: The Golden Army

This is a limited release blog as I am going to see Dark Knight later today and Dr. Horrible concludes tomorrow, but I just wanted to get this out since I saw the movie three days ago and was starting to forget some of the details... So here it is, with what some would consider mild spoilers, but not me :)

Hellboy II

Thank goodness for Pan's Labyrinth or we might never have seen this amazing film. Coming off his success with Labyrinth Del Toro was given the green light and the cash (85 mil to be exact) to produce this visually stunning sequel to the 2004 not-so-much-a-hit Hellboy.

My initial thoughts were, Was Abe that bright in the first movie? Does Helboy drink Tecate in the comic book? And Wink's hand weapon is way cool!

Then they were that the plot wanders a bit, Jeffrey Tambor's talent is wasted and the Troll Market scenes are the most stunning thing I have seen in a long time...

Yet somehow in this movie the good and the bad equal out somewhere along the way to make a really enjoyable movie.

The plot was based on traditional mythic legends about trolls and elves and humans and made sense throughout the movie... I liked that Prince Nuada was out to reclaim glory for all the forest people not just himself or his family... Sorta Noble... Doesn't hurt that Nuada was played brilliantly by Like Goss.

So onto Abe and the Princess Nuala... I'm sorry I just didn't believe her... I was not engaged in her character the way I was with her brother, Nuada... But without her we would not have had the great Barry Manilow Duet by Hellboy and Abe so all is forgiven there.

The Troll Market was this gorgeous, richly detailed underworld that I think will be the envy of Sc-Fi/Fantasy films for years to come. Del Toro's vision comes to life so realistically, none of it felt fake or painted in, just stunning visual effects.

So aside from some campy humor and a bit too much emphasis on the creatures and not enough on the actual characters I thought this was a great addition to the 2008 Summer of Super Heroes.

I found two interesting reviews on-line, one for and one against, that were written by folks with much more literary talent than me that you might enjoy as well...
