The Show That No-One Knows I Watch

Okay I'm just going to come out and say it because I can't keep living this lie...

I Love watching Ice Road Truckers!

Enough said I guess... I'm so embarrassed...

Alright, now all of you give up your TV guilty pleasure...

Guy Fieri and my trip to Sonoma County

Hey Everyone... visiting my Aunt in Sonoma County this weekend and I find out she lives like 5 miles from Johnny Garlic's... This is one of the restarants owned by Guy Fieri from Food Network... Anyway I got this and I was super stoked so I just thought I'd share :)

Family Ties

Lunch with my family

I know I always wonder what you all actually look like so in case you wonder if I actually look my profile pic (the answer is, unfortunately, No =) here's a pic of my sister, my mom, me and my adorable nephew, Cody.

Can you tell we are family... you know those glasses with the fake noses... we look like we are wearing just the noses... but alas, we are not, the nose is the thing that ties my whole family together :)

Peace Out :)

HorrorFest and ARGs

So I've just started watching the 8 Films to Die For from HorrorFest 2007...
I couldn't decide what to watch first so I decided to do them in alphabetical order...

First up was Borderland

Borderland

I really liked this movie, and based on the description I didn't think I would at all...
It's based on true events and has all the gore of Saw and the sadisticness of Hostel, but better...

The basic plot is 3 friends heading off to college take a trip to a Mexican Border Town and get mixed up in a blood cult lookeing for human sacrifices... I know it sounds lame, but it's not... It's creepy and bloody and well acted... and our favorite Hobbit Sean Astin plays one of the bad guys...

Next up was The Deaths of Ian Stone

The Deaths of Ian Stone

This was a good, sometimes slow-paced, thriller... Had an interesting plot... Ian Stone Dies Everyday! He wakes up each day in a new life only to be pursued by unknown killers...

Stars Mike Vogel from Cloverfield and Jaime Murray from Hustle & Dexter... If you like a good suspense thriller... IF you like to try and figure out what's going to happen in movies...Then this is the movie for you!

**********************************
Onto the ARG...

It's so weird... I found it through a Dollhouse website... many have found it through Fringe websites and a bunch of folks at Microsoft seem to be involved... All I know is I solved the first puzzle and got a password, but nowhere to use it... Yet?

I can't really figure out what this game is really linked to... Or how it ties into Dollhouse at all... but I guess that's the point... to figure it out... but I am so damned impatient :)

I'm not a big gamer... I enjoyed Find815.com... but didn't get into the whole viral thing for Cloverfield or the whysoserious.com thing for Dark Knight... That being said...

If you're interested you can start where I did at this website:

Future On Fox Blogs

Then you can go here for a pretty good recap of the game so far:

ARG Network ReCap

That seems like sufficient yapping for now... Going to start watching American Gothic now...

Peace and Math Peeps

I Am Legend - Alternate Ending

So my first reaction to the movie is why does Will Smith do so many movies with dogs?

My second reaction is that it was a really good movie... I have not read the book or seen any of the movies it was based on so I had no expectation for it... and I really enjoyed it, mostly...

I don't know where to begin with my disappointment that the alternate ending wasn't the theater release...

I have the same feeling as when I watched the alternate ending for 28 Days Later and that feeling is...

WTF?????

The alternate ending was so much more powerful and emotional and really tied all the bits of the "zombies" behavior together... made the movie make more sense... and it made the zombies victims instead of monsters and I liked that aspect...

I'm so sick of Hollywood feeling like they have to make cheesy endings to big movies... we don't want crappy endings we are just usually stuck with them... give us a little credit for being a well eductated people... we crave movies that make us think... If we don't want to think we can go see Forgetting Sarah Marshall or The Love Guru...

Anyway, that's my mini-rant for the day... here's a cool pic from the alternate ending...

American Idol Mini Rant

I was planning to post a wrap up of all the great season finales but AI has me so frustrated I just have to get this off my chest...

I'd like to see them both actually sing the phone book... then Randy could shut up and stop saying that...

I'm am so sick of David A... what a bore... He is so unoriginal he did a song he's already done before... and it wasn't as good this time... Whatever...

he'll win and put out some lame boring record... People wise up there is enough fluff in the record stores (do they still call them that? =)

Besides with the exception of Kelly and Carrie no-one buys the records that the winners put out anyway... Hey America, this time, put your money where your mouth is!

Whoo, that felt good... Go David Cook!

Update: so I spoke too soon... I got all riled up for nothing - the right person actually won this show for once :)

Cloverfield on DVD

So I finally watched Cloverfield today...

The first cool thing was a teaser for JJ Abrams Star Trek Movie... without showing anything or giving up any plot they made this Star Trek look super cool... That whole franchise has had it's ups and downs, hopefully this one will re-energize it.

Onto the movie proper...

What I really like about it was the actors were all so natural... they behaved in a way that seemed real for their circumstances... this is the area where most Horror flicks fall short...

I also like that you saw the monster in bits and pieces as the movie went on... no dramatic sweeping aerial shots that take away all the imagination and by extension all the fear...

I thought the special effects were OUTSTANDING... I don't usually like big budget CGI films because they usually feel animated... they add in useless stuff just because they can... Cloverfield only used it where it needed to be and with great success...

The bonus for me that Drew Goddard wrote it... He wrote great stuff for Angel and Buffy and is doing a bang up job on the Buffy Season 8 comic... and I think he did a GREAT job with Cloverfield...

All in all I have to give this movie two thumbs up and I can't wait to see which city goes down in the sequel...
