Daggerfall to morrowwind to oblivion...a perfect example of the corporate decent towards the lowest common denominator. Gameplay got 'worse' graphics got better. If you think otherwise play Fallout 2 again, it would be banned by todays standards ('a kinder gentler machinegun hand'). It seems that we are being steered toward adolescence and protected from adulthood.

I tried the BETA, and I loved it, but the fighting system quickly got me annoyed =p I'm fine with fighting from horseback, alone, against 6 random thieves, but the second I have an "army" with me, Im doomed xD I hope they fix the aim and such, because I really want this game!Deihjan

I felt the same way until I got my first lance, just line them up and mow them down...or line up an enemy one of your mercs has occupied and mow them down from behind. I've planted 3 in one charge without too much trouble. I know what you're saying though...once I had a few mercs following me it was harder then solo for abit. Just watch your troops (and get them on horses), Flank or distract, it's a change since it's not all up to your character now and the enemy moves differently now that you're not the only target.

*edit, spelling

Great game for the combat and openness of the game world. Graphics blow but in my book gameplay is worth at least twice the visual candy aspect and the combat mechanics are sweet. Thanks for the heads up on the game...it's sad that alot of the fun games I've played lately were almost no-shows on gamespot.

Whoever wrote that article obviously never played Pre-CSU SWG. Before SOE messed everything up, a Jedi was EXTREMELY rare to see. One reason was because the tasks and quests one had to complete to become a Jedi required an abundance of time and skill, and were not easy to obtain. Secondly, there were MANY bounty hunters. Everyone seems to think Jedi was the most popular class, but that is false. Until the CSU, SWG was prefect. Nothing needs to be changed. Other than the Jedi and the silly spore thing, I agree with everything.fatzebra

I'm not a SOE fanboy but if you think for a second that they have free rein to do whatever they want with the Star Wars license then you are dead wrong. Lucasarts is the 'master' and all things go through them or are directed by them period, save your spit for them...they deserve it for the 3 prequels. It's no coincidence that the SWG changes started about the time WoW proved MMORPGs could be a very solid money maker. Now Lucasarts is changing horses and betting that Bioware will pull it off...they have the background and there is enough MMORPG experience out there now to know what works and what fails. Time will tell if it's just a copy of the UO/EQ model or something with enough innovation to interest the been there done that crowd to try another MMORPG (who wants to invest 100s of hours to level up a character and gear it out AGAIN?).

[QUOTE="Helbrec"]Yea Warhammer looks great in videos but the beta itself is garbage. Its so boring and the graphics arnt 2008. I thought WAR would finally be the next MMO but it aint. PunishedOne

Please keep talking out of your ass and come back when you see Tier 4 RvR.

I did in beta, Helbrec is right. War is middle of the road, not great or bad....just same old (EVE, DAoC, what AoC wants to be, etc.). It's just another cookie cutter MMORPG with it's own 'little' differences. Except EVE, DAoC, and WoW have already done this gameplay to one degree or another which makes War seem old right out of the gate.

The bandwidth needed to deliver a game... is pennys. Sure people might download more than once, but still. Its far cheaper in bandwidth compared to packaging up a game for retail.

Captain__Tripps

I second this, it cost next to nothing compaired to using a distribution chain/packaging/manufacturing. As someone above mentioned, retailers would freak if they were under cut and most likely just say nuts to you and stop supporting the company. This is happening anyways to a degree, I've noticed PC Game sections getting smaller as digital distribution gets bigger.

Play the first and forget about the 2nd.Vilot_Hero

I second that. For me the second was a buggy piece of crap, the world(s) and story were bland, bare, and bugged to hell. Anyways, if you want to enjoy the second then yes, skip the first.

P.S. Anyone who thinks otherwise the second game's story is a weak (very weak) ripoff or tie-in to a starwars novel series and ruins the first games story line..-->***BIG SPOILER ALERT*** Stop,, everything after this is a spoiler for both games, really - don't read unless you've played both games...last chance. The main character at the end heads out of the galaxy (like the first KoTOR main Character? WTH? I don't remember that from KotOR) The only possible enemy based on the books (outside the galaxy) is the Vong...but really, 4000-4500 years before they appear? I'd like to go into detail but I know some kept reading and I want to leave some mystery.

Toontown is pretty good too...actually very good, the chat is limited to protect kids from adults...(and adults from teens). It's one of the few fully developed mmorpgs, from the main game to earning money (jellybeans) everything is fleshed out very well. It was one of those rare games, for me, where it's deep enough to interest but shallow enough for quick fun.

It's a good game, I've played the steam version and it was not bad at all. It's got good character development, a decent story line and is pretty immerse. I never once had a drop to desktop or freeze with the steam version. All in all it's not a waste of cash or time, the current version is fun, fairly deep and entertaining...and $19.99.

[QUOTE="ExTrazz-SeWICX"]Age of Conan is the next big game within MMO :D

AFter what ive seen and heard here in Norway .. I looks like Age of Conan will beat WOrld of Warcraft hardcore !!!

what you think?

potentv

Sorry to inform you guys but blizzard had established an epic brand name before they launched AoC, Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft series. Alot of people follow the lore and/or brand names. Also taking AoC system requirements into consideration, most people will skip AoC. I know that in a very few years computers will have developed to handle AoC like an old tissue, but at that stage people will be waiting for the next mmo

BS, I know of alot of people on systems below req that can play. Thanks for the Fox News report potentv.
