Alexisonfire is a million times better than A7X[QUOTE="livingundead"]
I havent listened to Avenged Sevenfold since I heard Bat Country (I think thats the one). I kinda like Ch.4 maybe five years ago...but I just can't get passed the glam guitar...sounds like I'm playing Tetris on the gameboy or something. The growling is awful. Want some growling? Listen to Demented Are Go's first album: In Sickness & In Health. Their other stuff...well it leaves more to be desired.
I wouldn't define Avenged Sevenfold as metal for the same reason I don't consider Blink-182punk. They have elements of metal, butthey play for a mainstream and younger (teenie-bopper) fanbase. They area 'Rock' band in every sense of the term. Generic.Nickleback plays heavy songs too you know. ;
If I want to listen to an Avenged Sevenfold-type band I'd prefer Alexisonfire.frostybanana
Exactly. The key to Alexisonfire has grown up over the years, while keeping to their emo/screamo roots. And in growing up they have created a more mature sound that still appearls to their younger fanbase. Their still just a rock band, but they've improved with every album with thexception of 'In Cardinals' because I've only heard the one song.
Avenged Sevenfold got significantly worse after their first album. I don't know who their influences are, but they seem to have gone the Misfits of the Graves/Only era route and have made some terribly cheesey rockish music with a B-movie music theme...and they don't make it work very well. Granted, anything is an improvement over Bat Country...I facepalmed so hard I gave myself a concussion.
