[QUOTE="lolfaqs"]oh, well, as long as your launch 360 is okay, we can ignore the other ~30% of people who have bought a 360 and had major problems.

Stevo_the_gamer

*yawn* Thank God the vast majority of those individuals are covered under a warranty.

yep, so long as they don't get any problems other than RROD in the last 2 years of the 3 year warranty and so long as RROD and E74 cease to exist after 3 years from the date of purchase, they're all good.

Which begs the question why M$ designed the 360 to require specially made hard drives in the first place instead of allowing 360 owners to throw in any 3rd party hard drive...

Stevo_the_gamer

Could be the design issue -- the original Xbox's HDD was incredibly simple to mod and alter. Microsoft did not want this to happen with the Xbox 360.

And yet the 360 can still be easily modded. So much for that argument.

[QUOTE="RM84x"] *rant* ... I've had so many problems with mine already and it's only a year old ... *rant*Stevo_the_gamer

And I've yet to experience a single problem with my LAUNCH Xbox 360. Really though, was all that even necessary?

[QUOTE="lolfaqs"]Don't forget when the 360 ever gets an MMO. Internet service, Xbox Live, and monthly MMO subscription. Ouch.

Stevo_the_gamer

You left out the electric bill, the cost of the TV and its stand, the rent or morgage payment, couch or bed. ect.

Speaking of electric bill, Greenpeace gave M$ a failing grade. Sony did much better. :)

I agree that the pricing is excessive, but isn't the drive specially made for the Xbox 360 -- which increases manufacturing costs because the process is more methodical? Nevertheless, HDDs need to cheap for PCs -- building gaming PCs are expensive as it is.Stevo_the_gamer

[QUOTE="Harry_Balzac"]

Charging for live as well a dlc is major milkage. Can anyone tell me why Live is actually a chargeable service, when I already pay an isp for my internet. Live is the biggest milkage I've ever known, made even moreso by the fact that people are big enough suckers to not only pay for it, but justify it's charge like it's some kind of complimentary gift from MS. Blind fanboysim and loyalty never fails to amaze me.

Let these companies know that charging for the internet twice, and next we will be paying yearly subscriptions to Sony, MS, Nintendo, as well as EA, Ubisoft and all the publishers for each individual game they release that has online.

M$' entire xbox division didn't turn a profit until 2008. We're talking the entire department from the moment money was allocated to start up the Xbox project.

Who will be the first to 200?! =)

it's abit sad that your enjoying this.

you created this thread knowing very well the outcome.

I made this thread knowing what the reality is: 360's line up is looking sorry in 2009. But I was curious to see if my opinion on the matter was widely held on SW. Looks like it is. ^_^

yeah, M$ had an entire year's head start with zero competition from the Wii or PS3 yet the 360 only has a lead of about 7 million consoles over the PS3. The PS3 sold well over 10 million consoles in 2008 just like the 360 despite costing twice as much as the 360 and despite 2008 being one of the worst economic holiday seasons for retail in a loooooong time. A lead of 7 million is laughable given how cheap the 360 is and the year long head start with zero competition from the Wii or PS3. That's less than the PS3 sells in any given year even with competition from Wii and 360 and with a huge price tag.
