hmmm, I think its a heat issue and you should go buy an external usb sound solution. I have a usb xfi that I use and love. Good thing about it is that I can connect my IPOD. The reason I say this is because you have been on for 20 minutes and up which is plenty of time to have a high ambient case temp. Could also go into device manager and see if there is a conflict somewhere but if there was it would start up that way.

its only a pain in the ass to power cycle your router and get on-line. vista is cool. I recommend 64bit since everybody and thier brother is buying pc's with dual/quad cores and shigs of ram.

Huh? name one thing that takes advantage of quad core yet? I would go with the amd x2 6000 or 6400 at over 3 ghz for 130 bucks. Be advised that heat is an issue as I have been reminded on this board. To give you an example......in 2003 I bought a super abs pc for around 5k and it burned up by 2005. 2 years really isn't that bad but I would still have it if I had worried about better cooling. Live and learn. Seriously a dual core with 64bit windows vista is a good investment for the future. I would spend the extra beans on a good dual sli gpu. Just my opinion and the tech will change your mind in ways you haven't thought of yet by next year.

in regards to cases, smaller isn't better. Technology is constantly evolving and growing, cell phones and laptops get smaller but p.c.'s get bigger because there is more that goes into them. I recomend that you buy a large atx case, I bought an atx case in 2003 and I am still using it even though I routinely upgrade every other componenet inside it. Its 1-200 dollars less I have to pay as I upgrade. Also, get a really big fan to sit right next to it and rent a tornado to sit outside yo sliding glass door.

Its just marketing, greed and people who don't actualy build computers, makeing decisions for big companies that make hardware for people that build computers. Would be nicer if corporate departments came with compatability specs. I just wish they could get some decent tv tuners thru cable labs. Tell me, why can sony fit a cable card slot into thier t.v.s but ati has to have an oaker box for a p.c.? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having a computer case and mother board? Can't m.b. manufacturers just build a qam 64/256 decoder with windows compatible gui and a coax input? This would leave the door wide open for gpu developers and hdmi. Course, I don't know what it takes to set up a manufacturing plant and I don't have access to developers......or do I? One more thing.......The concept of makeing a device that will fit into an entertainment center and have the power of a personal media center computer doesn't work and is obsolete. We actualy like a big assed tower that we can upgrade and all that cool stuff. I personaly don't mind buying a new video card every year in order to have a pc that does what I want. What do you think?
