it is totally fine. i recently bought a ps3. the console is only 2 years old right now, and sony has supported the ps2 for 9 years now. they plan to do the same wit ps3. Plus, even the most extreme analysts think it won't be before 2013 when the new generation begins. trust me.

hey, recently i made a post asking about good games to get for my ps3 when i get it in august. Now i would like to know if there are any accessories to the hardware that could be considered mandatory or pre-requisite for having the optimal ps3 experience. im getting the 80gig model, if that helps, and i already plan on getting the eye toy for online gaming and littlebigplanet.

it is definitley MGS4, but that will be dethroned spring 2009 when god of War 3 comes out.
