[QUOTE="project343"]Why didn't you just save up, and own both?SambaLele

Kind of expensive don't you think?

When paying for school loans, rent, insurance, groceries and saving to eventually own a home, I can only justify spending so much money and time to video games. That's why I had given up on this forum for a while. I'm back here tonight to kind of mourn. It's hard because most of the good games out on PS3 right now, I've already had the chance to play.

Not to attack you but I also have a school loan, a mortgage, car insurance, etc.. You don't seem like someone who knows how to budget their money very well. Maybe you should have your wife handle your finances?

You traded in, over 1,000 dollars worth of games / hardware (I assume it was at least this much to get yourself a PS3 at no cost). In return, you got a 600 dollar console. That's a 400 dollar loss. Your reasoning is the anticipiated release of one title?

I'm sorry, but maybe you should'nt be buying ANYTHING. If you have that many bills and obligations and cant afford to buy a PS3 straight up it tells me two things. #1, You're in debt over your eyballs. #2. You should'nt be saving to own a home because you will end up in foreclosure.

I'm surprised your wife puts up with your crap. If I was her, and I saw you spend a grand on video games only to turn around an get slammed at least 400 dollars I'd want a divorce. Basically, it's a never ending cycle. How much money are you going to rack up on the PS3 before you decide that you wanted an Xbox 360 instead?

so, to you, basicly, marriage is all about money? if you wife/husband don't know how to handle his/her finances, you'd want a divorce? if someone can't handle his/her finances very well, doesn't mean he has rough times or difficulties.

Wanna know the #1 cause of failed marriages?

Money problems. Yes, if my wife was a knucklehead I'd divorce her. That's why we date people. To find out if they are compatible or whether or not they are knuckleheads.

Well I bought a 360 12 months ago. I actually got a game too so it was a $350 loss. For $350 I had 12 months of fun. That's $30 a month, cheaper than if I went to he movies every weekend. It' the cost of doing something that I enjoy, and ends up being a relatively small fraction of my income.

I'm actually not in any debt, minus school loans. I don't think you know much about finances if think you can guess that I have issues with money from one purchase.

Being stupid with money would be holding onto $1000 worth of items I don't use often. I made the trade while the 360 is clearly still in demand. Holding onto the items, they would only go down in value.

In short, you're not only condescending, but you're not as smart as you think you are.

I must be pretty smart if I assumed you lost at least 400 dollars on the deal. You shot back saying you lost three fifty. I assume it's a lot more then that. Especially since you used my 1,000 dollars worth of items you don't use often.

As for debt, if you went to a college worth a damn, I am sure you are in debt. I did, and am in debt. I will be, for years to come.

I'll close with this. Those 400 dollars you lost, are only 200 dollars less then the retail price on a brand new PS3. So, in essence, you blew 1,000 dollars because you could'nt afford to spend 200 dollars.

If you arn't following, you are willing to lose 400 dollars. But you arnt willing to lose 200 dollars.

If you can't tell, I majored in accounting with a minor in finance.

People make mistakes, people change their idea, nobody is perfect. Maybe you should ask your wife to teach you some social skills (or your girlfriend or something)...

You're missing the point. It's the way he went about it. He was a sucker and went to EBGames or GameStop and got royally screwed.

He claims to have obligations finacially and people like me have to call him on it. You sit down, take the time to do it right, and recoup as much money as you can. You don't go flying into a store throwing at them thousands of dollars worth of games / hardware.

Through Ebay / Craigslist he could have recouped a good portion of his money. I know this for a fact because I had a friend sell his Xbox 360 and 2 games a week ago on craigslist for 400 dollars , Why? He needed the money to pay for his college course books.

It's not about making mistakes, it's about commensense. The poster lacks the latter of the two.

I was sort of in the same boat. Only I owned a PS3 before the Xbox 360. Still have the PS3, but prefer the Xbox 360.

For example, I currently own 0 PS3 titles. I bought RFOM, beat it, and sold it on ebay. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the game at all (analog sticks on PS3 controller are also atrocious for FPS and I would never buy another one the console again). I am a PC gamer at heart though so making FPS's work on a console is a HUGE achievement in my mind. So far the Xbox 360 is the only console that has gotten the FPS genere down (Halo 1/2, RB6:V).

Right now my PS3 is a glorified movie player. I think the system has a lot of potential though. I am not excited for lair like some fanboys on here. While the graphics look good the gameplay looks repetitive, tedious, and unfun.

Anyhow, I would have saved money and waited it out for a few months. Not to call you a liar, but, why would you buy a PS3 now? You have no hdtv so it's obviously not for blueray. The library sucks at the moment. I just don't get it?

Should have saved a few paychecks, traded in your used games, and enjoyed the best of both worlds.

Have fun though, the PS3 will be fun...... eventually.

1. Lied, lied, and lied some more

2. Forced blue ray down gamers throats causing high console price.

3. Launched a year later then xbox 360 with an inferior gpu.

I had a PS3 and sold it. Ended up buying a Wii, few games, and 2 extra controllers for the price. If the PS3 comes down in price maybe I'll give it another shot in a few years. For right now, Wii360 FTW!

Uhm, making a character sink because he has steel boots on is not "physics." That can be hard coded into the game. The way barrels fall off of a crate or the way a car crashes and throws out a persons body (rag doll effect) is physics.

One arguement Sony fans have about the PS3 over the wii (after Nintendo owners cry "Gameplay > graphics!") is that PS3 has better physics capabilities. I ask you, how the heck could a developer make a game that requires-- physics that the Wii couldn't handle that would actually highten gameplay? Wii has already demonstrated out-of-this-world physics with Dragonball Z: Tenkaichi 2... How could their be better physics and why can't the Wii do it? It doesn't make sense to me. justdog11
Sorry dude, I own a Wii too. The Wii is a "fun" party device and not really a console. It lags way behind 360 in PS3 in terms of both horsepower and graphics. And physics can add a lot to a game. Whether its seeing a barrel float in water rather then sink to the bottom. Or the way bodies react realistically to being shot, etc..
