[QUOTE="lvriot"][QUOTE="nnavidson"][QUOTE="iMacBot"] [QUOTE="project343"]Why didn't you just save up, and own both?nnavidson
Kind of expensive don't you think?
When paying for school loans, rent, insurance, groceries and saving to eventually own a home, I can only justify spending so much money and time to video games. That's why I had given up on this forum for a while. I'm back here tonight to kind of mourn. It's hard because most of the good games out on PS3 right now, I've already had the chance to play.
Not to attack you but I also have a school loan, a mortgage, car insurance, etc.. You don't seem like someone who knows how to budget their money very well. Maybe you should have your wife handle your finances?
You traded in, over 1,000 dollars worth of games / hardware (I assume it was at least this much to get yourself a PS3 at no cost). In return, you got a 600 dollar console. That's a 400 dollar loss. Your reasoning is the anticipiated release of one title?
I'm sorry, but maybe you should'nt be buying ANYTHING. If you have that many bills and obligations and cant afford to buy a PS3 straight up it tells me two things. #1, You're in debt over your eyballs. #2. You should'nt be saving to own a home because you will end up in foreclosure.
I'm surprised your wife puts up with your crap. If I was her, and I saw you spend a grand on video games only to turn around an get slammed at least 400 dollars I'd want a divorce. Basically, it's a never ending cycle. How much money are you going to rack up on the PS3 before you decide that you wanted an Xbox 360 instead?
Well I bought a 360 12 months ago. I actually got a game too so it was a $350 loss. For $350 I had 12 months of fun. That's $30 a month, cheaper than if I went to he movies every weekend. It' the cost of doing something that I enjoy, and ends up being a relatively small fraction of my income.
I'm actually not in any debt, minus school loans. I don't think you know much about finances if think you can guess that I have issues with money from one purchase.
Being stupid with money would be holding onto $1000 worth of items I don't use often. I made the trade while the 360 is clearly still in demand. Holding onto the items, they would only go down in value.
In short, you're not only condescending, but you're not as smart as you think you are.

I must be pretty smart if I assumed you lost at least 400 dollars on the deal. You shot back saying you lost three fifty. I assume it's a lot more then that. Especially since you used my 1,000 dollars worth of items you don't use often.
As for debt, if you went to a college worth a damn, I am sure you are in debt. I did, and am in debt. I will be, for years to come.
I'll close with this. Those 400 dollars you lost, are only 200 dollars less then the retail price on a brand new PS3. So, in essence, you blew 1,000 dollars because you could'nt afford to spend 200 dollars.
If you arn't following, you are willing to lose 400 dollars. But you arnt willing to lose 200 dollars.
If you can't tell, I majored in accounting with a minor in finance.
