[QUOTE="Guitartod"][QUOTE="horrowhip"][QUOTE="Guitartod"] but that has nothing to do with crysis being badly optimized...im sure 8800gts run oblivion like a champ but were talking about crysistrix5817
my GTS runs Crysis like a champ too. Very High settings 1280*1024 getting ~32 FPS average with lows of only 25 FPS. I also did the Foliage AA tweak(r_useEgdeAA 2)... makes the alreadyamazing graphics look even more crisp.
thats great that u can get it at 32 fps... but for me atleast in a fps on pc any drop below 30fps is unplayable..... i mean im sure the firefights are real bad but just wait till that robust physics engine comes into play i bet the frame rate would tank 5 more frames per second... im not saying that 8800gts are worse then a console that would be stupid we all know 8800 series>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any console by a long shot, all im saying is crysis seems like it could of been optimized better, i have trouble running it at medium at 1024x768 with 2 gigs of ram x1800 "oc'd" and a decent cpu"not the best not a slouch either but embaresed to say what it is too lol"point is i should be able to set some things on high, thats all
In Crysis, 30fps is VERY playable. It's actually really, really smooth. For a game like UT3 though, you want around 50-60, even higher if you're an FPS *****. And no, the framerate doesn't tank when the physics engine comes into play, unless you have a crappy CPU.
Sure 30FPS is playable, but if the average is 30FPS then the minimum FPS is around 17FPS. Just about every benchmark that shows mimimum, average, and maximum frames per second show that minimum FPS is about half of the average FPS.
Idealy you want an average of 45FPS for Crysis, that way the minimum never goes under 25FPS, hopefully never under 30 even.

Too bad all 360 games are rendered at 720p then UPSCALED to 1080p (which doesn't look as good as actual 1080p)i run all my games silky smoth at 1080p on my 360;)
horrowhip
so does cryisis upscale to 1080p??? or does it render it nativly at 1080p with perfomance problems... give me a silky smooth upscaled 1080p then a choppy clunky native 1080p......
Crysis has several native resolutions... you can change it at will... Gamespot was running it a 1680x1050 on all Very High and still getting GREAT framerates on On The Spot yesterday.... Watch the video. Anyway, that is pretty much native 1080p.
When did they mention it's 1680x1050? They asked him if that was DX10 or DX9 and he said he didn't know lol
they said it was on their big screen.... normally that means its at a fairly high res. Also, he said he thought it was the very high settings(it also looked like the very high settings... I've seen them and those were the very high settings...).
edit - you wanna make a bet right now that the full retail version of the game runs much smoother? You would lose that bet, I GUARRANTEE
Of course the retail version will run alot smoother. But i bet a 8800Ultrawon't be able to average over 40FPS on "Very High" settings and 1680x1050 resolution
[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"][QUOTE="horrowhip"][QUOTE="m3Boarder32"][QUOTE="muscleserge"]My 7900GT runs it mostly high, but I still ordered an 8800GT, couldn't help myself.imprezawrx500
Roffle! Good one! 7900GT is barely playable on Medium Setting and 1280x800 resolution  1024x768 would be better.
GUESS WHAT!!! SOMETIMES, PEOPLE GET BETTER FPS THAN BENCHMARKS SHOW.... YOU NEED TO REALIZE BENCHMARKS DON'T = EVERYONES PERFORMANCE.
Those were also on theolder drivers.
I dare you to show me one benchmark that shows a 7900GT being playable on high settings...I dare you...But but the drivers..Give me a break...Drivers aren't going to allow you to change the settings from medium to high, and improve the frames per second at the same time..
benchmarks just about always how lower fps then the card can run the game in the real world, also they are averages so a lot of the time it can be faster
It works both ways, they are averages so at times it's slower too

[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"]lol blURAY IS SO DEAD. HD DVD uses superior codes like TrueHD and VC-1, Blu-ray uses the ancient MPEG2 which has alot of mosquito noise. Also, the HD DVD group just recently announced that HD DVD's are going to be 70GB by December, and that all current players will be able to play the 70GB disk with a firmware update.
HD DVD also has two stuiods with a catalog of over 5000 titles, Blu-ray has 0 studios with a catalog of over 5000 titles.
GAME OVER
ShockerD19
oh my lord, where to start on this one...
TrueHD superior? come on now, blu-ray is vastly known as better for audio because of lossless audio tracks on just about everything coming out of disney and sony these days. as far as VC-1, some blu-ray titles do use VC-1, but AVC is used a lot also, which is argued to be just as good or better. and mpeg2 can look good if its properly done, go look at newer fox releases. and where did you pull 70gb discs from? right now hd-dvd is having trouble trying to get out a 51gb disc, let alone a 70. and with the issues of hd-dvd players being able to play the 51 or not, i doubt youll see them playing this magical 70gb disc you speak of.
and Warner is the largest holder of movies, which makes them on both blu-ray and hd-dvd. not to mention that now sony owns mgm, it is large. its just too bad the majority of big movies are from the blue side.
I was just messing around
Im shocked it took someone this long to quote me
The only thing I said that was true is HD DVD has 2 exclusive studios supporting it with over 5,000 titles. Blu-ray has 0. You can check imbd for yourself and confirm that.
[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"]Prove it. It's not that hard to find. A 7900GT being playable on high settings is laughable at best. Heck I'll make it even easier for you..He said it was "mostly high" settings, I bet you can't find any proof whatsoever that remotely comes close to proving a 7900GT can run Crysis at above an average of 30FPS and on MEDIUM settings, let alone almost high.
organic_machine
lets talk facts here. just facts. We know for a fact that there was a recent driver update which received unanimous praise in regards to increasing Crysis framerates. That, in and of itself, makes your chart illegitimate. And any dumbell can make up a chart like that and pass it off as legit. You need a source and a date.
Find benchmarks with the latest drivers installed, it shouldn't be too hard
