[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"][QUOTE="gizmo_logix"][QUOTE="pimperjones"]Starting from Casino Royal all BluRay will use AVC H264, now it's still MPG2. gizmo_logixJudge the film on the visual quality of the movie. Not the codec used. Mpeg2 has shown to equal or trump vc-1 on certain titles. It depends on the style, film type, artistic direction, age of the film, transfer, bit rate, and hardware encoders/decoders and software. M$ at first was trying to shill their vc1 codec (FUD and propaganda = see avsforums) as the end-all-be-all codec and constantly bashed the BDAs decision to go with mpeg2 on some of their titles. In the end, it's up to the movie company and the quality should be judged by your own eyes, taking into consideration of all he factors I mentioned above.

actually; open season, already out, is encoded in AVC on blu-ray (by sony) and it's suppose to be one the best looking blu-ray movies. Many reviews say that it truly shows that blu-ray can be more than a match for HD-DVD quality...
