MS brought online gaming to the consoles in a way that is still unmatched. I'm by no means a MS fan, but it's clearly visible that they opened up a very major segment of gaming to consoles. That's a huge achievement, and it is paying off hugely for them.

Yes, I know this topic must be so unbearably old for you, seeing as how you were posting about it last night.

(How exactly is this topic old already?)

Many PS3 owners on this site have bc because they are the sort of people who are early adopters.

I have to admit it is fun to make fun of them removing though.

Sony: "BC not important"

Amazon: "new in box 60 gb PS3 only $900!!!"

Riverwolf007

I wasn't an early adopter, I got the 80gb Motorstorm bundle... They're still selling PS3s with BC right now.

Posts like this one are quoting this article, stating that Square Enix will be delaying FFXIII for the PS3 until the X360 version is done. No one from SE is actually stating this in that article, however:

In the video, director Motomu Toriyama didn't beat around the bush when Nomura asked him questions about the 360 FFXIII. Starting off, he reconfirmed that, "We haven't changed the direction of the development. We're making the PS3 version first, and then porting to the 360 later." That means that since the game will be released simultaneously on both platforms in North America and Europe, the PS3 release will be held back in those territories until the 360 version is complete.

Furthermore, Toriyama also revealed that, as of July 29, his team hasn't yet received the tools needed to begin work on the Xbox 360 version of FFXIII. "I'm telling them to not think about the Xbox 360 right now," he said. "We can think about it after the development kits arrive."

The designer also reassured PS3 owners that the game's quality would not suffer due to the 360 port. "We aren't going to change any specifications [of FFXIII] because of the multi-platform announcement," he declared. "Right now, we're fully concentrating on the PS3 version."

It is the article author making the claim that the PS3 version will be delayed. Everything Toriyama says seems to indicate otherwise. THe author is going by the one reference to simultaneous release made at E3.

Since E3, Hashimoto has said:

"As we have already announced, we will complete the PS3 version in Japan," explained Hashimoto. "After that, we will start the localization for US and Europe." Once localization is underway, Square will begin development of the Xbox 360 version, with the aim of releasing it in America (with no meaningful content changes) alongside the localized PlayStation 3 version. "Because of languages and other conditions, it may not release in US and Europe simultaneously," noted Hashimoto.

As quoted here .

So, don't listen to the unfounded assumptions of some random GS author, and take the news straight from SE, they aim to release it alongside the PS3 version, but they're not saying thas they will delay the release of the PS3 version to ensure that it happens.

[QUOTE="Cedmln"]You obviously don't know what you are talking about and haven't seen other games on PS3. That and you are a fanboy attempting to down play the game.Fumpa

What the topic creater mentioned about the memory is true though. At least that's what I've read from multiple sources and also heard Carmack comment on.

Whether or not the "motion blur" is prevelant and whether it makes the game less playable remains to be seen, but from the video clip I just watched, I can say that I didn't see any blur really, and also that the game looks good.

It's nto as if the 360 can use 512 MB for graphics, though. It needs to use some for the actual game code and OS as well.

The 360 version is a port and it is not a timed exclusive for PS3 (in Europe and the US) because it is stated that they are going to hold the PS3 version back to wait for the 360 version to be finished. In Japan it is an exclusive to PS3 since the 360 version will never show up there.

The article author said that. Not SE.

[QUOTE="mabris"]Yeah, they were less than 1% off. Massive failure confirmed.Grive

Right.

Read the thread. Understand the thread. Pay special attention to Subrosian. Think for a bit. Then stop making up figures as you go.

Am I not allowed to respond to the TC without taking into account the entire thread? Can I not point out the silliness of creating a thread to point out a 1% error? I didn't not make up the 1%, BTW. Do the math...

Um, 139th "richest" company... As of last year, at least. A year of Vista probably hasn't helped.
