Woooow there is so much hate around this franchise its like I could drown in it whenever I come across an article or video about it. I was surprised with the little machine's-turning-on-us-terminator thing, seems like something a little different. Kind of a really cheesy trailer though, could have been delivered better
The music is really the cherry on top. I swear the traveling music in the third vid is straight from morrowind, not that I'm complaining. This comes out the week before my university exams.. Sorry exams
BF3 looks like a technical marvel, but more boring to play (or more realistic). I'd rather play another rollercoaster MW single player campaign for sure, but I'd rather go with BF3's multiplayer for the pace it has, slower, less arcade-y
@UxoriousLimited I didn't play BioShock 2, because from all the footage I'd seen it looked too samey, I knew the lack of freshness wouldn't make it worthwhile for me, I only needed to experience Rapture once and the concept of being a big daddy didn't seem exciting or great to me either, but the biggest clincher was that it WASNT MADE BY IRRATIONAL, THE MAKERS OF BIOSHOCK 1 AND NOW BIOSHOCK INFINITE (And System Shock 2, which I still play!). I can totally see how the lack of the gloomy environment would take that scariness away yeah for sure, I thought about that too intially, but to be honest, the way its sunny combined with the dark behaviour of the inhabitants etc, it actually gives me a really eery and creepy vibe that's both disturbing and fresh. Its a different kind of scary. For me, anyway. I see it as Bioshock because of the core mechanics, being in a certain outlandish environment where something's gone wrong (space station, underwater city, city above the clouds), the shooting, the plasmids (renamed as vigors for infinite) the disturbing people/inhabitants, story-driven and of course scrounging for loot. I think people find it hard to see it as a 'bioshock' game, because to them, Bioshock = being in rapture.
I don't mind scripted events. Its more engaging/exciting than the old gameplay *cut* cutscene/movie *cut* gameplay formula. Scripted events are better interludes or story-enhancers/tellers for the medium video games are in than a cutscene is, most of the time. That being said, it sounds like this whole demo showed no clear distinction of what was core gameplay or what was scripted. Maybe they're still just making scripted demos to show themselves AND us what they want the experience to be like, and are still messing about with how actual gameplay will work/interwine behind closed doors. Bioshock had some great scripted events. The whole intro, plane crash, being led to swim to the tower in the middle of the sea, seeing rapture in the bathosphere, the splicer attacking the bathosphere to give you a sense of fear. ***SPOILERS FOR BIOSHOCK*** When you beat Andrew Ryan to death. Of course in between Bioshock had brilliant core gameplay that completely relied on the input of the player to continue. I really have no doubt that whatever they do, Bioshock Infinite will be a great experience and worth the money.
