I don't care who's made it, I'm happy to be getting more Fez. The first one felt kind of magical to me, I felt that kind of giddy excited-to-explore feeling I hadn't really felt since playing my first games
@Mona5443 Its similar to Portal in so far as its a first-person puzzle game in a sci-fi-like setting in some kind of facility. So definitely the same sort of vibe, and I wouldn't doubt it served for inspiration.
The main mechanic about which you manipulate the puzzles is original though
When I compare this to the original, the original still holds up. Also worried about the change from old screen-to-screen switching to scrolling. When you stepped into a new screen, you saw all the information you needed, like hey there's a slig sleeping, so I'd better sneak if I move. WIth the scrolling, the line is unclear when you need to start sneaking if you can see that slig sleeping - just an example. The nature of how it was made also seemed to be somewhat tile-based or something originally, which was perfect for the challenging puzzle-platformer it was, because EVERYTHING you did was precise, there was never any guessing.
Anyway, that being said. The original Abe's Oddysee was apart of defining the PSX and that gaming period in my childhood, and I got a big grin when I saw Lorne Lanning on stage live at the PS4 conference, and heard some of the press cheer too. A greater plan beyond this may mean that they see a real sequel to Oddysee/Exoddus viable if this remake is successful enough and proves interest
Liked the xbox controller so much more when I switched over after playstation one. The playstation controller felt okay when I was younger because I didn't know any better, also they tend to be quite small. The xbox controller seems to feel more ergonomic, and grippier. The playstation controller feels almost too light and films. In the past they've been oddly smooth and slippery too - though I doubt that hasn't been addressed with the duelshock 4. The asymmetrical analog sticks also feel more natural on the xbox controller, not sure if that is an objective fact or personal preference though.
The gamecube controller was pretty good, I also really liked my dreamcast controller when I was playing one in between the PSX and original xbox
@Noonewarrior Take a look again man, the guy playing only jumps once, but in the public event you can see all the other players jumping plenty, a couple seemed to have a jetpack-like boost as well
@Shahnil @H4num4n The polygon count on a current gen character may be many less than a next gen model, but we've reached the stage where the extra added detail doesn't really equate to more than some extra sheen, as opposed to a visual 'leap'. Its less about graphical fidelity at the moment, and more about processing power and memory. Which is more important, anyway.
@nazart81 @macca366 Unless they have the means to bypass their DRM when the time comes, I mean, if they're exploring the possibility of 'passes' to military personnel. I want to see someone at Microsoft answer that specific question about the future, I haven't seen it brought up by journalists. Of course, the games that utilise the cloud technology in their processing will definitely be rendered unusable, and that will probably become quite prevalent, so..
