I can't wait either. The 360 really needs RPGs. It's pretty sad when the number of RTS games outnumbers RPGs on a home console. This kind of reminds me of the first couple of years of the N64: Like one RPG (Quest 64) before Ocarnia of Time came out (I'm not even sure I'd call that one an RPG).
Unfortunately, this will never happen. The gaming industry wants us to pay them for playing their games. The only way this would be possible would be to become a game tester, and we all know how much that job sucks.
I think the main problem with videogames isn't the price, it's the psychological effects of playing certain games. I think that we'll see a domino effect in the coming years. This effect was birthed with the home console. As more gamers stay indoors to play games; as more gamers communicate with each other online anonymously; as games get more realistic in terms of graphics, sound, and speed, we'll see more people holed up inside performing a new breed of social stimuli: communicating with other people while remaining anonymous, sitting in a dark room, and blasting other people at 60FPS in a very accurate representation of New York. This moment will be the new social standard.
I think games are getting easier. I believe it started when gamers could save their games. We can reload if we're stuck or get killed. I remember old-school games that gave you five lives, and if you died five times, that was it. Now that we can reload saves, we can try different strategies, go to different rooms, backtrack, etc.
Command and Conquer Generals is a pretty good one to start with. It's cheesy, fairly easy to learn, and you get to use nukes. You'll be halfway through the campaign before you even realize it. If you have a pretty powerful rig, then I'd go with Supreme Commander.
Sims 2??? I remember doing screwed-up things to characters from Mario games. I remember getting Mario to the highest point on a particular level, and then trying to do a running jump across the screen just to see how far I could go. Sometimes I'd land in a pit, lave, a flying hammer, etc.
If I could choose to have my 'do chopped up to match that of a videogame character... It would be a tough choice between Dante from Devil May Cry and Leon from Resident Evil 4.
