Custom water cooling gets expensive very quickly. I would say a good cpu only loop would cost between $200 and $300 depending on what brands and if you use a res or not. A system with full coverage blocks for gfx card, cpu and motherboard will break $500+ with ease, mainly because the waterblocks are very pricey. Some people go all out with wc their ram and power supplies etc. but that is more for the extreme.
Right now I'm about to put together a 2nd loop so my cpu and gfx card are separate. Looking at about $400 for the cpu loop but using quality parts. Keeping the gpu loop as is. My total setup would probably cost around $800 and you can add another $150 if I decide to get the motherboard block.
If you do it cheap it won't be any better than air cooling, if not worse.
The Corsair H50 as mentioned is a good alternative. Going to get one for my old pc. Competes with the best air coolers and it leaves a lot of room in a smaller case compared to the monstrous heatsinks these days.

WOW thanks !! , couldnt ask for a better reply .
Well, you could just try the corsair H50, it is a hydro cpu cooler that goes for ~$75. I'm not 100% sure, but I've heard the number $400 thrown around as a general rule for a full system rig.Roggirek
400$ HOLY CR*P
Hi , like some of u know , i just got my rig in december so im fairly new when it comes to components/hardware.
I've tried to do some research on my own on learning about water cooling ( google is our friend :P ) but it only helps up to one near point.
So for now , i was wondering of you knew a specific web page that explains water cooling extensively .
Also , for a complete water cooling rig , how much does that generaly cost ? ( with average components )
[QUOTE="swehunt"][QUOTE="madecato"]Well, the s775 is on it's way out so the prices may never drop to what would be a good value upgrade. Save the cash, spend it on a new build when the one you got is insufficient. (witch is quite a while with the games coming out rigth now.) If you want a upgrade that you would see a big diffrence in you should mail game devs and ask them to put out more demanding games as your current rig should pass most games with flying colors. wrong, Intel is still interested in producing higher clocks and more efficient C2Ds and C2Qs.So do you think I should get a higher clock speed quad core when prices drop?

 REALLY ? euhmmm i might have to redo my research on that one
Agreed ^^
I have a Q8200 2.33ghz , only because i multitask alot . i could be rendering a video , while uploading a video to youtube / listening to music / playing a game ..
Even then i dont think im the biggest multitasker around...
Save your money for a future upgrade wich you will have to change your mobo for a futureproof socket.
Hi , i just started with this whole "gaming rig" life .
I have a ATI HD 4890 1GB videocard.
I went on CCC in the overdrive section and clicked to UNLOCK the whole section by mistake ..Now i cant lock it back.
Is there a way of doing so ? because i really dont know much of all the overclocking available there.
Or does it even matter if i leave it unlocked and not change anything ?
i Just got my rig in december .
I was thinking of OverClocking my cpu , but for that i will also need a new cpu cooler since the one i have is stock -_- .
I was looking over at newegg.ca ( yes i live in Canada , GO VANCOUVER OLYMPICS !!! =D ) and i came across this one here.
I just wanted to know the opinions from the gamespot community since so far they have helped me ALOT.
My system: (Antec 900 Case with 600W PSU)
