@mrboone01 I would agree that a lot of space makes for a better open world game, IF that space is utilized for more than just a backdrop. Morrowind, Skyrim, Red Dead, Fallout 3 and NV are great examples of a good use of large areas. But when the game just has large space that only serves as a boring backdrop (Final Fantasy 8's overworld for example), or is "filled" with repetition (Dragon's Dogma), it doesn't add to the game - just makes it a chore and a bore.
Exclusive to Wii-U??? God that sucks! I loved the first game (still need to finish hard mode, and I normally do not play any game more than once, much less hard mode!). I'm not interested in playing it Wii-U style, though - dirty shame.
@Gamernametaken @HybridKing Funny you brought that up - because people are always talking like consoles are "safe" from piracy. If they are concerned about piracy on consoles - which is part of the (stated) reason the Xbox was created in the first place - why is there even an Xbox? MicroSlob should have stuck with PC gaming, since their console has shown itself to be incapable to deal with piracy without draconian policies...
@inthepastxx @magusat999 Your right, I am putting down MicroSlagg - not the company, but the specific policy. Just because a person utilizes a company doesn't mean they have to like all that they do - that's called fanboyism.
I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about what someone calls the Xbarf Bun - that's my prerogative to express it that way if I choose.Nobody is asking for your editorial blessing before they post, and I'm sorry if it bothers you but toughen up. That won't be the first time in your life your going to hear something you don't like, so get ready for the real world.
My post was already saying that the PC can do all that. That's why I put the term "media PC" in parentheses. The fact is, the Xbox is really a console that is actually not even necessary, and it perplexes me why MicroSpank, who makes the bulk of their income from PC software sales, even started making it. Using a PC as a game device is not expensive, btw - for one thing you don't have a upgrade a PC as often as console come out. You also do not have to have the newest components that come off the factory line - even at moderate settings games look and play much better on a PC than on any console - and that is not going to change with the new consoles. The point is that there is an option and its easier than people who are dumb to PCs and PC gaming think. Unlike a console, you can start with a cheap PC - or even a used one and take that hardware up to whatever level of power you need - its more economical, and you can take your time instead of laying out a fat wad of cash all at once.
The most violent people I have encountered do not have any interest in playing video games - except for sport games. Ask any crip, blood, latin king, black guerilla mafia, etc. - any gangster what, if any video game they play and they will tell you either they don't play no stupid ass games or they will name some sport game. So either sports violence makes people violent or there's no link between gaming and violence.
The human mind is much more complicated than to make such a sweeping statement - bubble gum psychology. Why don't they specifically research what made those nuts do what they do instead of picking out one activity and blaming it on that. If someone has a chemical imbalance and they play games - isn't it reasonable to assume that it was the chemical imbalance rather than blaming it on their recreational activity?
If ever there was an opportunity for a new console to hit the market it's now. Just like Sony came into the industry with the machine Nintendo rejected and killed them, there is a market need for a console that will give gamers what they want instead of forcing other someone else's agenda upon us. Too bad Nintendo can't get over themselves - I'd pay SEGA to come back to the hardware market if I could!
The simplest thing would be to make a small PC with hookups to TV (all options, not just HDMI) and a wireless controller - that can be done now(media PCs). Actually, if people did this, and developers made their games with a minimum requirement option so that the number of players can be maximized, there would be no need for consoles - especially the Xbutt None.
I'm starting to believe that companies only go to EA for "protection". The companies that "partner" with EA don't make money, they usually end up being absorbed and broken up. What are they getting out of an EA relationship? They don't need their distribution lines; they don't need their money - those things have many other ways of being accomplished. The only thing I see EA offering is another DRM experiment. I wish they would just sober up an leave EA to survive on its sport games, which is the only thing they actually make decent.
Strange he would make that comment about DRM (which I agree with) and then turn around and try to de-classify what was done to SimCity as DRM! Yes DRM is a failed, dead-end strategy - and yet you utilized it in SimCity! You don't WANT to call it DRM - but that's what it is and that is the major reason you configured it that way. This must be a record performance of how fast someone can contradict oneself...
I read another article a few weeks ago stating that the PS4 WILL be backwards compatible all the way to PSx games - someone got the wrong info. I don't own a PS3 and it looks like I won't be getting a PS4 either - why the hell would I pay 600.00 for something that lacks the one thing I need the most - backwards compatibility? F U Sony. I was excited about it until I learned the truth about it.
Good article for a great franchise. Its good to hear the rare occurance of a game franchise being respected, unlike some of EA's abominations. After reading this I am actually inclined to play it!
