My friends are awesome
by majoras_wrath on Comments
So a while ago asked my friend who is awesome at messing around with technical things if he could fix up my ancient CD player, basically just reattach the power cord so I could use it with my stereo system.
He called me today so I could pick it up, and not only did he fix it, but he made it look like this

Talk about shock and surprise. My jaw dropped when I first saw it. It looks really professionally done, and will look great next to the rest of my equipment.
It is probably the coolest thing I own at the moment, and I think I might have him do the rest of my stereo stuff.
I need help!

...Ok, so it's not that big of a deal.
I'm looking for a good RPG. One that is deep, layered, and sophisticated. I'm not looking for something open-world like Oblivion, because I've played that to death. At the same time, I don't want something too JRPG and annoying like Final Fantasy.
I've personally been looking at Persona (hah!), but that's looking too anime-styled for me. One that I've heavily enjoyed recently is the Mass Effect series (although I wish it was more of a true RPG!), so something along those lines.
General RPG'sI've played:
Mass Effect 1+2
KOTOR
Oblivion
Final Fantasy 12 (got 1/3 of the way through, hated it)
Planescape--Torment
Dragon Age
Mount and Blade
Thanks guys!

...well ok, Jonny Greenwood's favorites.
Straight from DeadAirSpace
"For all the nerds who are marveling, like me, at Red Dead Redemption: here's a different kind of office chart.....
Braid (various)
Marathon (Mac)
Goldeneye (N64)
Elite (BBC Micro)
Cave Story (various)
Ico (PS2)
Red Dead Redemption (PS3)
Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64)
Zelda Twighlight Princess (Wii)
Half Life 1 and 2 (Mac, PS3)
Having written that, I think Ico might be the best one. Now back to Bonnie's ranch....
Jonny"
Feels good to know you have the same video game tastes as your favorite band :3
So I have this tradition...

...where I blow out car speakers with an unspeakably loud song played at full volume with the bass cranked up.
First it was my friends speakers (with this song at full blast)
Then it was my old family car's speakers (with this gem of a song)
And now I will be doing the same with this sonic assault on my new car's speakers. Sweet ear-busting goodness.
Can someone please explain to me..

how in the hell I am enjoying this song.
All it is, is 9 some minutes of the same chords over and over, with some yelling and drum soloes in the backround. Yet I've had it on repeat for the last 30 minutes.
"APE! APE! APE! APE! APE!"

A little shameless pluggery of what I consider to be my greatest musical achievement so far.
At the risk of exposing myself to be the uncoordinated dork I am, I'm the trumpet player with the green tie with the stumpy arm.
I made a few mistakes over the course of the song (ewww bad notes) but overall I think our cover turned out pretty well, especially since we are a high school group and my horn part being transposed by a music theory illiterate (aka me).
I've started converting my music library to high quality

What a pain.
There are times when having a massive library of music just. isn't. worth it.
It's so tedious, I'm considering just converting all my Radiohead, Pavement, and Sonic Youth albums to ~320kbs mp3, seeing as they are the bands I care about most, and working my way through the collection from there.
My goal is to get a portable harddrive of super high quality music ready for college.
18 days till I see the greatest musician to walk this earth
EDIT: As soon as I finished this, my brand new rip of In Rainbows finished. Threw it in Foobar to see how it sounds, and it's simply glorious.
