if for some reason i cant get it when i get my dslite i'll still get it later on at another store or order it, but is portrait of ruin also good?

Another question, are DS games region free or do they require the respective regions DS to play?

Hey guys,

I havent owned a nintendo portable since the gameboy color, i didnt stop getting the systems because i ever started to dislike them, more so cause i kinda lapsed somehow and got more so involved in normal home consoles.

I am thinking about picking up a DS tomorrow because i dare say that i would find it very beneficial when i'ms tuck somewhere that i dont really want to be, on breaks at college , when i'm stuck in town and waiting for a ride home, or on car trips..... but i 'm not sure what game to get, so i thought i'd explain the type of games i enjoyed on the gameboy consoles and what i'm looking for gameplay wise.

Zelda Links Awakening
Wario Land 1 & 2
Super Mario Land 2
Metriod 2: Return of Samus
Donkey Kong Land 1 & 2

Its weird that i remember original gameboy games more than GBC......

I was alot younger then tho, but basically i want something thats going to keep me going for a while, something i cant just finish in 4 hours or something, but is something that i can also pick up and play for 20 minutes here and there.
Castlevania Portrait of ruin looks nice but i'm not sure it would be long enough for a first game.
Advance Wars: Dual Strike also looks very interesting.
As does New Super mario bro's.

On other types of consoles i generally enjoy adventure games and rpg's the most but when ti comes to hand helds i almost expect nostalgic ****gameplay and can easily find myself playing platformers if that makes sense.

My post might be a bit too abstract and im' not looking for a definative answer by any means but more of a pool of oppinons that i can look and help me form my decision.

Thanks in advance and for your time..

Your quite right about black isle. And i must say planescape torment is still the best rpg i've ever played in my life even put up against todays games.

I wonder how long its going to take bethesda to bring out fallout 3, i mean they have been busy with shivering isles.... :(

Indeed.
Invisible War is an abomination of a sequel.....
Probably not a bad thing that Eidos shut ion storm down, i sorta lost faith in them after those last 2 games they put out.
If only obsidian had of existed back then, they have made good on the last 2 bioware sequals that they have done. Maybe not from a stability standpoint but from gameplay.

But this is also why i think bethesda should let obsidian do fallout 3 and then bethesda publish it, because from what i know obsidian has the fallout developers these days after Troika packed up.

Its going to be on 360 aswell, so it will be dumbed down to the last, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Fallout that was will become an action first person shooter by the time they are done with it, perhaps with a few rpg elements tacked on.tenaka2
not another invisible war :(

It pleases me to know from reading this thread that i'm not the only person who thinks oblivion sucks and is severely over-rated.
The story sucks, the combat is lousy, thier attempt at a focus on an open ended game just made the game feel lonely, the life routine system kinda doesnt stand out or work no where near as well as they claimed..... and story missions after you get to cloud ruler temple are reduced to horrible errand boy missions......

I cant say i know much about the bethesda forums but i do know from a friend that at one point they had a "I quit" thread much akin to those on MMORPG forums hehe.
