I wanna avoid having systems unessercarily deactivated/numbers of systems that can be used on consoles used (I wanna keep it at one use, I get 5 console activations, used one, i wanna keep it that way).

[QUOTE="trastamad03"]I can help you with that last bit... When you install the new HDD, you'll need to download the firmware from Sony. They have a guide on how to make sure the PS3 recognizes the usb/files inside it. Basically, make sure the USB is formated with FAT32 file system. http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/pc_update/index.htm

Already taken care of with the usb bit, but the firmware bit is useful. Now awaiting psn id confirmation, can the id's remain or must i de-activate the system...

Thank you warload_Irochi, that's preety good, although how recent is this exactly? The model doesnt matter but with the firmware updates and stuff I'd like to know if its safe to just leave my user account ID and psn accounts there or should I reactivate my system after format (Back up>deactivate>throw in new hard drive>start it up). Everything else is basically answered here unless its become obsolete

I made threads before, my aim is for this weekend is to change the HDD, thus I'd like all input...

What I know:

-Locked saves to psn plus (3.70 firmware prevents backup-dont even bother ive already bought it)
-HDD size specs etc
-How to backup

What I'd like to know:

-Do I need to deactivate my ps3 and all it's psn accounts before I remove the original HDD?
-Should I backup then format the old HDD prior to swap or should I leave the old HDD alone?
-I cant remember, but do I need a copy of the latest firmware on a usb for when the new HDD is booted up or will it give it's self everything it needs?
-Anything else

Preety much new hdd, backing up is sorted, need these and anything else...

OR a step by step on backing up, and re-activating ps3 after hdd swap with what to do with psn accounts before swap as well.

Much thanks (and yes, I'd like to be safe than sorry, I just want all my game saves, accounts back and without this counting as another ps3 activation)

If you have umk3 on the super Nintendo I'd say that's better than trilogy, I own both... While you cant play as more than shao kahn and motaro as bosses and not ALL klassic kharacters are in umk3, there are no load times, simple as that... The load times on mkt are painful, there is an n64 version but that's lacking features...I believe the bosses have been cut out, can't remember what else...

...All you see is male parts for a few seconds in a skipable cutscene...women dont appear naked not even in the strip clubs (g string and bra people!) But the graphics are so *OLD* that even the strippers dont look erotic at all or even close.. I had to lol at ONE person defending the person asking, he has a point...but isn't this what we do on the internet and butcher people? Speaking of which I got a knife...gonna have some fun in this strip club >:D

i've just looked into sony's user guide for firmware 3.70 - it seems back up and restore no longer works for copy protected saves, presumably with a view to steering people towards playstation plus - shocking, and seemingly introduced very discreetly - sorry by the way

We.. I blown $500 on pre-ordering games...what's a 3 month subscription? Well I wont be doing this until I beat gta4's online (at 3 million mark...) so if any more info comes, let me be the first to know.
