No, it is coming out for the Wii. It was confirmed in a package Marvelous sent out with other games and release dates.

[QUOTE="Wintry_Flutist"]Maybe they'll come up with those, but they'll need separated M+ anyway for those who already have many Wiimotes. Anyway why would you unplug the M+?Wintry_Flutist

I use a third party Wiimote charging station, which is one reason I will unplug the thing.

Im a little bit worried at how the M+ is going to divide the userbase. Will you have to use it for some games, or will it just enhance an experience for those that choose to buy it (and for the games that support it)? If you have to have it, third parties may shy away from it because those consumers who dont have it wont be able to use their product. If you dont have to have it, then a game should function fair enough without it, and the thing wont sell.

I guess Nintendo are pinning the success of this thing on Wii Sports Resort.

As long as it is affordable, you'll be able to buy one whenever you feel like playing a game requiring it. It will come down to this, and nothing more. What would divide the userbase is a new Wiimote. Get your logic right.

Yeah, I know youre right. In my brain, I was comparing it to the balance board which may have sold a lot, yet there is not a lot of software for it. I guessed, probably incorrectly, that developers wouldnt want to run the risk of making software exclusively for a peripheral.

You, however, just reminded me that M+ will be affordable, which pretty much negates that. I do need to straighten out my logic *yawns*

The purpose of this poll is to see how many Wii games are enjoyable. Obvoiously everyone like all the games they own, and pretty much just vote on the number of games they do own. So really, there is no point to this thread.[QUOTE="matchstickbaby"]

I own 30 Wii games, not counting Wii Sports and Wii Play, and I have squeezed every ounce of enjoyment from all of them; I wouldnt have bought them otherwise.

What I really want to know is... what is the purpose of this poll?

korino55

lol, I guess it would be kind of hard to get any real data from this, considering its subjective, and people havent played every game in the Wiis library. It will be interesting to talk about taste, though :)

Tell me about it. I just sigh when I read *every* single thread saying how there is simply nothing to look forward to on the Wii because, well, there is. Plenty.

In fact, there is so much that I am looking forward to, Im not sure Im going to be able to afford it all at once. Seriously, how many games do these so called "hardcore" gamers go through?

Looking at that thread, Im relatively impressed with how third party support is shaping up :)

I'm neither. I hate those terms. I'm just a gamer. Let's take another hobby for example such as movie-goers. Are their hardcore and casual movie-goers? No. I play video games so that means I'm a gamer.Lunar52

To be fair, there actually is that divide in pretty much every hobby, including buying and watching a lot of movies. Its just that no other industry makes as big a deal of it as the game industry seems to.

Your example of movie-goers made me laugh, because I know some very "hardcore" people who do just that. They travel long distances to art house cinemas to watch weird films that sometimes I dont understand, then rave about the deeper connotations of it all. They also buy themselves home cinema set ups and storage space for their massive collections. Thats pretty hardcore.

You get harcore musicians, hardcore sports players, hardcore photographers, everything. Its just that most of the time, these people arent considered hardcore, but elitist.

--

I reckon 90% of people that own a camera are casual. Im hardcore, I guess. Photography is my life, and I have a collection of cameras so expansive, they exist in two seperate houses. Now, that 90% of people dont bother me, because its the way the industry works; the companies such as Canon, Nikon and Sony make crappy consumer cameras that fuel the "casual" market, and use those sales to fund development of "hardcore" machines for professionals. Also, I love the fact that photography is an accessable hobby, that many people get into it, and that I can dabble in the "casual" side as well. Having a casual side of a market is a very good thing, for every industry.

Its a sign that the game industry is maturing, and that it is starting to become expansive. Not long ago, my house was the only one around that hade a video game machine, thanks to my dads love of all things gadgety. Now, I know four houses in my street alone that has a games console.

Therefore, I do not see the importance of these stupid labels and their associated connotations. I like Jasonguy's terminology. I am an enthusiast. I play the games that I enjoy, no matter what label some elitist fanboy has given them. I enjoy playing games with my family, and I enjoy playing games with my gamer friends.

It will only be a few years now when these two terms hit the dust, and videogaming is simply an accepted way of life.

Sorry for the wall of text :S

nintendo might have sold the most consoles, but just me alone is worth more than 6 soccer mums who bought the Wii they might have bought 5 games or less since the Wii has come out while ive bought about 30 for the ps3 so far

If one hardcore gamer = 6 nintendo Wii soccer mums if we want to take that further

10 hardcore gamers = 60 soccer mums Wii owners

1000 hardcore gamers = 6000 soccer mum Wii owners

So if nintendo loses there hardcore fanbase it's going to really start hurting them in the long run

bigLLL

Somehow, I dont think Nintendo is going to lose its hardcore fanbase more than it already has... people that passed over the N64 and GC for the PS1, PS2 and XBOX have already done it. The core Nintendo fans are still going to buy the console, regardless of Ninty's apparent casual (yuck, hate that word) focus, and Nintendo are just adding a massive group of customers to their install base.

Not to mention that Nintendo actually make money when they sell consoles, I dont think its going to be hurting them any time soon.

Besides, Nintendo have managed to dish out their core franchises at a lightning fast pace. Those fans who stick with Zelda, Mario, Metroid and Brawl have already got what they wanted.

It probably is the best thing to happen; no one wants a companie's successes to go to its head, and a wake up call is sorely needed.

If you look at the way console generations have panned out, could we apply the same to Sony and Microsoft? It seems all companies go from inventing a product, to refining it, letting it get to their heads, struggling to recover and then, in the case of Ninty at least, doing something risky that pays off, and probably starts the cycle all over again.

OKAY -> SUPERB -> DOWNFALL -> STRUGGLE -> RISK

NES -> SNES -> N64 -> GC -> WII

SMS -> MEGADRIVE / GENESIS -> SATURN -> DREAMCAST

PS1 -> PS2 -> PS3

XBOX -> XBOX 360

Naa, it will probably never pan out like that, but it will be interesting to see.
