"...I wouldn't want my 50 year old father to do that..."

Okay ,young whippersnapper with the anti-game friend; I am a 45 year old father. Keep in mind that means I was the one who made games the phenomena that became this monsterous billion dollar industry for youns today. Oh, Yeah- I play viddy games still. I just paid $2,000.00 in Income Taxes, also- guess that means i am also employed somewhere? I am unable to play games to the exclusion of my real life though. Afterall, i have to share the console(s) and PC with my 3 kids and wife. Here is my 45 year old opinion; I am not out boozing it up or smokin' the sweet leaf and fooling around on my spouse. i don't beat my kids, either-just at video games-which they're hating- hahaha!

Bottom Line- Anything that you do to the exclusion of other things is never good. Games can fit that category. just like drinking, pornography, drugs and general stupidity. But- playing my video games is not an exclusive persuit in my life.

now excuse my antiquated arse as I get ready for work.

Umm.. lemme see. I am a Neanderthal type, so it depends on how hard the guy in question was kicked in his Hoo-Hoo. Therefore, it is okay for him to cry, 'cause that IS a bad thing to happen, afterall

The rest of us guys can easily understand that, I think.

I was raised in the white middle class religious morality of the neanderthal world (Born in 1964, I mean). I think our modern world has made it harder to keep religion as an asset- it is a liability today. I will say that I've probably managed to bust at least 6 of the 10 in my day, but not always knowing it until later. When we eliminate God with human science each day, we often stretch those commandments. We aren't even teaching such things anymore. I personally think they are the best guidlines for making human laws though. I also say that being just human is not a state of perfect being. If we have nothing beyond our physical limits to look forward to, then we might as well go swing from trees again. Which might actually be a relief-we do that a lot more today anyway...

[QUOTE="brandontwb"]Yes I understand how certain species evolve from their environment. What I`m asking is did we once all come from one ancient mammal that went off into many groups?brandontwb

Yes, we evolved from a common ancestor, just like all other mammals have.

Interesting... It sucks that we were the only ones who developed advanced intelligence.. I wonder what the factors were that made us smarter? Aliens messing with us??!!

HAHA!-I think we just got 'lucky' evolutionwise. Careful though-we can still disappear like dinosaurs and dodo birds, which may ultimately prove we weren't so smart afterall...:?

let's hope Our evolution still remains in our own hands.

[QUOTE="matenmoe"]Another bad thing about myspace type places- nobody has to work at making personal relationships if a computer does it for them. Don't use a machine for human to human interface!Cherokee_Jack
What exactly does the computer do? It's just like talking on the phone.

When myspace on a computer becomes 'the phone' then you get to see what someone is about (or what they claim to be about)without having to apply any interpersonal skills. All those type of sites are kind of voyeuristic, therefore slightly antisocial. This is what the computer does, IMO.

This is the fourth such argument I have read in this forum alone. I find it interesting that the game is so intricately linked to the console in the arguement. I quit buying after playstation 3 and its contemporaries. Polygons are pretty but I'd rather GAME, myself.

Each of these arguments led me to decide I am going to stockpile all those 'antiquated' systems / games that the rest are tossing aside, (I can finally afford those!) and continue to play games that have stood the test of time, regardless of console and amount of polygons. As long as I don't have anything else to do for a couple hours....

I'm out of money, ignore my responsibilities all too much, and nothing is worth the price that involves. I can't ignore life for hours on end anymore...sigh.

Yes- new games are pretty, but consoles that sell them costly. Yes, games are kind of boring today, but life goes on beyond them.

Let the argument continue- I'll play what I already found to be enduring-but I can't pay for any more than that...

From Silent Hill 2, called "Laura's Theme"-begining of the game when the spoiler / demo film runs, if you don't start right away. AND The original (PS 1) Tomb Raider theme from the load screen.

I don't do Myspace-too many PC virus spreaders lurking there.

But I don't think you're a stalker, only curious about somebody else. Maybe you just don't want to bother talking to them until you see what their 'Myspace' says about them first?

Another bad thing about myspace type places- nobody has to work at making personal relationships if a computer does it for them. Don't use a machine for human to human interface!

Umm...yeah..like I'm doing now.. ..grrr
