I don't see why the i7 would suck for gaming. I've done alot of research on it in the past week, and thought that it wouldn't be IDEAL for gaming, it would still work. If nobody has found out exactly what the i7 is or what makes it special: It is a quadcore cpu that detects the computers cpu needs. If it needs 4 cores, it uses 4 cores. If it only needs 2 cores (current games, ripping cds, pretty much everything short of video eoncoding) it will shut down 2 of its cores, ramps up the power to the other two, and essentially overclock itself. It all does this automatically.

Alright hold on. I'm installing Rivatuner. I will edit this when I get temps.

EDIT: Sorry buddy. Couldn't get RivaTuner to tell me my temp. If you know another way, I won't wind checking to see what my idles are. While I was searching online, I found that there are just some cards that run just fine at 70c. I don't think its going to be a big problem. Just don't get the 9600gt!!

Don't do it!!! I have the EXACT same card (bought it from bestbuy too :P) and it's perfect. It will be MUCH better than the 9600 GT.

That's actually pretty good. 2 gigs ram, 8600GT (I have it on my macbook pro.... it is incredible), and the cpu speed is kinda low... but it's a dual core, so that will make up for it. I only hate Dell Desktops (uprgrading my video card and PSU was a joke...)

I own the 8800GT. I was upgrading from the 8300 GS.... (Dell screwed me over) and the improvement was.... it was like getting a brand new computer. All my games ran PERFECTLY. The Witcher used to run at 11 FPS at everything set to min, and now it runs amazing at every max. HL2 is also like a brand new game to me.

Sorry people I have a new question. The modem on my computer only has one socket for an ethernet cable, and i need two for my xbox and the computer. Can you buy a modem with two ethernet sockets ?stefanocooldude

You have to now go buy a router. A router will let you hook up about 4 computers (or xbox 360s or both). They will turn your one ethernet port into four. They are pretty cheep. You can find them anywhere.

Yes Lostmagic's graphics are a hindrance. It's a really fun game though, and if you can get past the lag, you will probably enjoy it.

To the guy that suggested getting the laptop with the 8400M... I would highly suggest against that. But if you were just trying to suggest the best he could get for his money, I can understand. I don't think you can find a gaming laptop for 1000... there just aren't any out there. The 8400M laptop is probably ur best bet. What kind of games are you wanting to play btw? If it's just WoW... rofl. WoW will run on anything so don't try to spend money to play it. But if you want to play COD4 or anything.... not for 1K

Why get a new computer? If ur willing to blow 1200 bucks... I can just IMAGINE the stuff you can get for even 500 dollars! If I were you I would SLI together 2 9800GTS. That's alot cheaper than 1200 and you would have a better computer than any computer you could buy for 1200. Just remember, for games... you don't NEED a new computer unless ur current one doesn't have PCIe or anything.
