According to these benchmarks, you'll get an average of 35 fps in Crysis. But that's with early drivers. By august i'm sure they'll have new drivers that will give you a few more fps for that game. Crossfire doesn't work for Crysis because it's a heavily Nvidia sponsored game, but when it works it can perform better than GTX 280 in SLI. Oh yeah and in august ATI will have released the HD4870X2 that will spank the gtx 280 for sure.

With that X48 motherboard you will surely want a second hd4870 later, and one hd4870 requires 2 pci-e connectors. So I'd change the Thermaltake power supply to a Corsair 750TX 750W because it has 4 pci-e power connectors, and your Thermaltake has only 2. The Corsair is also cheaper. I know you can use 6 pin adapters, but i'd rather not.

Apart from that, i have no other changes to suggest. Very nice build.

The GTX 280 is better than the new ATI card in the fact that it takes two of the ATI cards in crossfire to be slightly better than the GTX 280.geogo3r

And it only takes one to have 85-90% the performance of the gtx 280, at originally less than half the price. gtx 280 is still overpriced at 500$, it should be 350$ to have the same price/performance ratio as the hd4870.

Do you know any other good cases? PC_X360

I like the look of the Antec 300 and the Coolermaster CM 690 more than the Antec 900. And they're cheaper too.

I don't see a 6 pin adapter on this pic. You better buy another brand.

Edit: On this pic, you can see 2 pci-e 6 pin power connectors.

cause i think Nvidia has WAYYYY more money so pays developers to optimize for there cards
Lehman

Yeah, that's why HD4870 > GTX 260 in Crysis, a heavily TWIMTBP game, and costs a 100$ less...

That's half the price already and at half the price it offers VERY similar performance to the GTX 260.

george_hopkins

The HD4870 is faster than the GTX 260 in most cases.

SLI GTX 280s or 260s will offer the best performance.

george_hopkins

When Crossfire works, CF 4870 can even beat SLI GTX 280.

You mean he should buy . 780i or 790i or 790i ultra motherboard for run it the sli & tri sli
i think p43 & P45 aren't sli compatible Submitmarcthpro

I know you can't have sli on P43/P45, but the TC doesn't want an nForce mobo because he thinks they're buggy. And he prefers the gtx 260 over the hd4870 because the latter doesn't support Physx... yet.
