Anandtech is biased towards Nvidia:

"The Radeon HD 4870 & 4850: AMD Wins at $199 and $299"

"For now, the Radeon HD 4870 and 4850 are both solid values and cards we would absolutely recommend to readers looking for hardware at the $200 and $300 price points."

A reader with 400$ should get the 260 and not save 100$ ? Really stupid. I'm waiting for more neutral reviews from Tech Report and Tweaktown.

Just buy a cheap case for around 50$ and transfer all your parts from your Dell to it.

It beats the 260 and comes closes to the 280 in some benchmarks. The site is getting hammered now so it's a little slow to load:

The HD4870 is faster than the GTX 260 and costs a 100$ less.

And i suggest you shop at ncix.com or directcanada.com for better prices.

If you don't mind wich of these 2 mobos would do good with a e8400 cpu and I don't want a sli or crossfire or quad I just want to know wich is better cause I'm on a tight budget.

Intel lga 775 intel p965 express atx or Biostar tforce tp35d2 lga 775 p35 and I saw this on newegg.

Get a P35 motherboard, P965 right out of the box doesn't support 45 nm cpus like the E8400 (or maybe the late P965 versions do, i'm not sure). You'd have to install a 65 nm cpu and update the mobo firmware and then remove the cpu and install the E8400, that's not very convenient.

That's a pretty good motherboard.

-Don't want to Crossfire: P35/P45 with 1 pci-e slot

-Not sure about Crossfire: P35/P45 with 2 pci-e slots

-Sure about doing Crossfire: X38/X48

so i can go with a 1x2gb and a 1x1gb cards as long as they are both the same frequencey?coltss

That wouldn't work in dual channel mode. Buy memory in a pair, 2 x 1 GB or 2 x 2 GB.

I think my monitor only supports up to 1280 X 1024. Its an Acer LCD monitor but its about 2 years old. I think that resoultion is decent tho so i guess ill probably be playing on that

Snowboarder145

At 1280x1024 you really don't need the 1 GB version, not even at 1680x1050 do you need it.

For one yeah no problem, the 4850 isn't too power hungry. Max TDP is 110W.

You need 2 6 pin but i'm pretty sure a 2x4 pin to 6 pin converter is included with the card. You'd be safer with a new psu like the Corsair 650W.
