I finished MGS III

Yes, I finally sat down and played through the game! And I am so glad that I did, because it was the best story I thought up to this point. The last boss fight that you play is pretty awesome and hard, I threw my arms up when I did it. Again this is another MGS where you have to wait till after the credits roll to get the entire story and it adds much intrigue to the plot. Well I will soon post my review of the game and let you all know the details, minus any plot spoilers of course. Who else has played or beaten MGS III? Any stories or interesting thoughts about the game? Please, do tell.

Getting sick of Madden? Try this game

Wassup guys!

I don't know about some of you but I have grown tired of Madden and it's inability to become more realistic and fun and challenging. If you are tired of running 5-6 set plays that are "automatic" for a completion, first down, touchdown, whatever; if you are fed up with the A.I. throwing a bunch of B.S. on you and trying to pass it off as more challenging and difficult; and if are just plain and simply tired of Madden in general, I urge you to try this game on for size.

ESPN NFL 2K5!

Yes a game made 4 years ago is actually better and more enjoyable (in my opinion) than a next-gen game such as Madden 09! How is this possible? Well one thing I attribute to this is madness is Madden constantly having the same niggling issues that we complain about year-in and year-out which is spurred by the fact that there is no competition. When Madden signed an agreement of exclusivity to the NFL back in 2005, it pretty much sealed the fate of Football lovers everywhere and made Madden the king (unfortunately). Ever since then Madden has actually degressed in adding features and intelligence to the game, settling for just updating the rosters and adding animations and making the game look prettier (too bad the refs still can't tell the difference between a sideline catch and out of bounds!). And the saddest thing of all is the game's A.I. is still from code from the last-gen games! That means Madden from 2004 and 2005 plays the same as Madden from 2009! Utter crap EA, utter crap! (for more on Madden and it's brokeness, read up on my scating review)

Now onto why ESPN is worth trying. For starters, the A.I. is actually intelligence and not just a B.S. meter, animations in 2K5 are superior, do you hear me, superior to Madden 09 and the presentation and pace of 2K5 is also leaps and bounds over a game made for cutting edge computer systems. If you have never played 2K5 you are doing yourself a disservice by not at least trying it. For video clips and testimony, refer to Gamespot's own review of the game and Youtube (search apexisfree and look up his videos on Madden and ESPN, and check out my review of the game as well).

I know this blog ran a little long but I am tired of people thinking Madden is a great game, it is good but not the definitive simulation experience, trust me. If you don't care about awesome graphics this game is the one you should be playing! And you can even download updated rosters to modern day ones so you can play just like it is 2008/2009 NFL season all over again. Trust me, you owe it to yourself, if you call yourself a true fan of football, you have to at least give this game a shot.

I am a level 19 but I was a level 20

I am not sure why this is but somehow I managed to move down a level. After being at a level 20 I am now a level 19. Not sure why that is, I checked to see if I was modded in any way and that was a no....what else could it be?

I got tagged by Toolz

Ok I think this is about telling things about yourself, so here it goes:

1. My name is Derek Sutton. I am an undergrad at the University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in economics

2. I am 6'3" and about 290 right now, little over weight....need to be around 250.

3. I love sports games, I used to play football in HS and played a little rugby in college. My favorite sports games are football and baseball, cause those are the sports I played the most. But I am also a fan of hockey and basketball.

4. I am a diehard University of Texas fan, and I of course support my Comets as well, we just don't have a football team so I root for the Longhorns.

Best game I ever played would probably have to be.......a tie between Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and ESPN NFL 2K5. MLB: The Show series might make it here by next year if they add a little more polish to MLB 08, and these games are games that either had an awesome impact on me as a gamer or swayed me in some fasion, cause I have played lots of awesome games. I have only played a little bit of MGS IV, mainly because I have not beaten MGS III yet, but I might add that to my top games list at some point. Also when I was younger the best games I ever played were probably Turok and Goldeneye for the N64, but that is a long time ago.

Ok I think I'm supposed to tag some people now, I'll tag..... Scianix-Black, masterhalo43, combatsoldier,and acemasta21.

Game Damage

Hey guys I just found a pilot episode of Yahtzee Croshaw's new show, Game Damage. The website that it is located at is gamedamage.net. You guys should check it out, looks like it should be pretty cool. Also, I don't know if any of you guys know Yahtzee but he also has a weekly show every wednesday called Zero Punctuation. It is located on the website, escapistmagazine.com. Check it out, really funny stuff. One of my personal favorites is the Guitar Hero III review, classic.

Big weekend at my house! (Finally got Rock Band & Home)

Well I have to say that my family and I had a blast so far this weekend with Rock Band. My mom and my sister stayed up with me all night last night playing world tour mode. I was the vocals and my sister did the drums while my mom played guitar. Now that my larynx is shot I think I need to get another guitar for the base so either my dad can play too or when my voice is exhausted I can chill on the base. Overall I'm so glad that I purchased this, wondering if it was worth $125 I paid for it. It definitely is!

On a different note, Home finally came out on the PS3 and it is sweet! I can definitely see the potential for a huge experience once they activate more game rooms and more people get on. It was cool just to stroll around the commons talking to different people. If any of you guys have played with home yet, tell me about it and we need to chill out sometime, peace guys!

Too many games to get this holiday season!

There are just too many good games out this year! Dead Space, Bioshock, LBP, Resistance 2, and I still want to get the original Rock Band now that it has dropped in price. Also there is Far-Cry 2, BIA: Hell's Highway and NHL 09! I don't know how I am going to get all of these, or even have the time to play them! Well time to start saving up. Any other games that you guys think are must buys? I'm pretty sure there is at least one more that I missed.

SOCOM not working

Hey guys,

I have been trying to install SOCOM and the game data will not install. Has anyone had this problem with the game? The main I got the game was for the headset, which is awesome. But for that $10 more that I paid I would like to have a game that works. Here is what I experienced: When I got to install the game data, it comes to the screen: Installing: please wait....and that is it. I left it for like 10 minutes last night and it never got off that screen. I have more space on my HDD than it requires, WTF!
