There is a proposed bluetooth antenna change too (no idea what it means functionally)

If that's all they limit the changes to, I'll be alright with it.

If they add some more stuff, then to be quite honest, I'll feel a bit like a fan of another company. You know, the one who plunked a brand new (and better) SKU unit on their loyal fanbase just 18 months after launch.

I miss the good old days when companies made their system, kept the changes to minor manufacturing tweaks, and let the system ride it out during the lifespan.

Now I don't have a lin, since its in the magazine. But if people start shouting for linkage I can scan the pages later today.

[QUOTE="Cellien"][QUOTE="doolies"]Nintendo are making all profit sold from every Wii. Only MS and Sony are making losses on their systems.Trek5200

Wii makes money, Xbox 360 makes money, the PS3 loses money. Sony and MS are both knee deep in losses in the game industry. Last figure I heard, I believe Sony was at a total of 1 billion dollar loss, from all their divisions .Defective parts like laptop batteries and cameras was the major culprit.. and the launch of the PS3.

Hmmm

Oh look. Another link. Isn't the magic of research fantastic?

Education for trolls.

Straight from Forbes.com (that's called actual research. Not make-it-up-itis)

"Well, after five years and over $21 billion invested, all they've got to show for it is $5.4 billion of cumulative operating losses, and Xbox 360 doesn't appear to be the silver bullet to turn things around."

Ahh...uneducated trolling.

Nintendo is currently the only company to be making money off their hardware.

Microsoft is actually under fire for continually LOSING money despite their fantastic showing with the Xbox360 thus far. You really need to brush up on your research and then take your inflammatory comments over to System Wars where they would be better appreciated.

Every company makes their money back via software.

Eventually, as the console progresses thru its lifespan and the cost of technology drops and the manufacturing efficiency improves, the company will begin to profit off the hardware sales as well.

No worries...if a company couldn't make money off their console, we wouldn't see a next generation model from them.

All? I don't think every single one on the market has been tested by Sony.

I'm willing to say the vast majority do.

Do you have one for your cell phone? You should try it.

Best answer is to look at the game offerings, because the capabilities of it and the competing console are about the same.Cellien

I completely agree.

If you ignore hardware reliability. And the BluRay format. And the Wifi. And the free online service. And the user replaceable standard laptop hard drive.

I think it's time for a thread lock. The infiltrating trolls have rendered this thread a System Wars-style thread now.

I just realized I hadn't answered your question yet.

Why is it a worthwhile investment? Because it will probably still be running 12 months from now :D
