Answer this simple question. Do you want a handheld designed to be a handheld gaming machine, or do you want a handheld that is designed to be a portable multimedia device with gaming functions?

In terms of "true" handhelds, the DS is the best one you can get right now.

Ditto. Game choice is a lot better too.

Close behind the shoulders could work too. Having the camera off to the side wouldn't feel right for 1:1 controls methinks.

Honestly, I am starting to get tired of this. First of all, those of you who actually owned a Gamecube, know that there were tons of quality IP's on it. To name a few off the top of my head, there is:

Eternal Darkness

Super Mario STrikers

Odama

Battalion Wars

Viewtiful Joe

FF:CC to name a few.

Not only does the Wii have a larger consumer base, and therefore due to basic economics, more third-party support, but already has the foundations for new IP's. I really have no idea why people are complaining. It's been three-quarters of a year. That's hardly any time at all for developers, not to mention they have to tackle a new method of playing games. Give them time to familiarize themselves with solid ways to program for the motion controls and the new IP's will be coming out the boot. Regardless of the fact, motion-sensing controls will be standard accross all systems next gen anyways.

For all of you who are complaining about missing out on X360 and PS3 games, I do recall that Nintendo said from the beginning that they were creating their own path , and not following what the other systems were doing. When a developer say something of that caliber, it's not smart to invest thinking that you will in fact get all of the X360 and PS3 games.

I don't mean the whole game, I just mean the actual combat. As in when you "Z-target", it would zoom in first-person. Having 1-1 control of Link's weaponry wouldn't feel as intense to me in 3rd person as it would 1st person.

I was thinking that if Nintendo really wants to make the most of the Wii's motion sensing capabilities, to totally immerse the player, I think it'd be best to have the combat part of the came in first person. Thoughts?

I'm not going to judge it before it comes out. To be frank, just because it's on rails, doesn't mean it can't be a good game. As long as it has depth and replay value then I'm fine. I'd rather they make a solid on-rail game then half-ass a regular one.
