To your first question yes I have attempted. True to your second question. I tried the last thing you said and I have confirmed that it does not work.

I do not think it is the cpu because I have a pentium 4 3.0ghz 7900gt and 2 gb of DDR2 RAM and I can run Company of Heroes maxed out no problem. I think it is something else but I do not know what it is. I just wanted to clearify that it is not you or your computer's fault.

Ok i guess I was not clear. Windows can only be reinstalled on the intact Dell computer with the reinstall dvd that I have. I want to use my self-made computer though. I can not reinstall windows using that reinstall cd becasue my self made computer is not a dell. THE ONLY way to get Windows running on MY SELF MADE COMPUTER is to buy the INSTALL cd from online or a store. THE cd CAN'T be associated with DELL like the REINSTALL DVD that I have. Now my question is can it work? I have the upgrade dvd to upgrade windows XP to MEDIA Center, but I am not 100 percent sure because that DVD is also associated with DELL. So, should I buy HOME EDITION OEM? Finally, should I get VISTA HOME PREMIUM OEM since I do want to play the new games that require vista, and I am not sure if my parents would let me buy Vista just because I want to. They do however allow me to buy ONLY the operating system now since I DO NEED IT. I hope that is better. I apologize for my English. I am from Spain.

Ok, I am in the market to buy a new operating system. I have a few questions before I buy though. First, if I buy the operating system will it work on my computer not spec-wise but will it give me errors like when I put my old Dell back together to reinstall Windows from a problem? What happened was I installed Linux but accidentally deleted my partition because I did not know what to do. Then I put the Dell back together because that was the only way I could install Windows successfully without getting any problems. After I did that I figured that I could just move that hard drive to my self made computer. When I did that, Windows could not even load because of a blue screen error that could not be fixed unless I were to keep the hard drive in the Dell computer. So long story short, I have to buy an operating system if I ever want to use my self made computer again, which I do. Second, I do have the upgrade cd to get Media Center which will only work if I have any instance of Windows XP installed on the hard drive. But I am not 100 percent sure it will work. With that said, it would be in my best interest to buy the cheapeast WIndows XP Home edition OEM right? I am a very hardcore gamer so to speak, so do you think I should invest in probably buying Vista Home Premium OEM?

Thank for being patient and taking the time to read my question. :)
