Probably the same Xbox live issue that darkghost75 and I have asked about;.

Apparently there were some issues with the latest updates (performed on the 16th) that have affected some certain xbox live accounts (although not others apparently)

They are in the process of fixing it but not date has been set.

I do partly agree DJ, and indeed, I am perfectly happy that map packs exist, and that, especially with CoD, they allow the opportunity to skip maps if you don't like/have that map.

But for every good set of developers working on maps for the current game there are a) said developers not working on the new games, and b) companies charging the same money for unlock cracks to stuff already available on the disc.

Plus, how much of the money for these things actually makes it to the devs? I'm pretty certain they're salaried and, the change from offline to online gaming, and the subsequent increase in downloadable content did not lead to a proportional rise in developer salary.

I started a thread about this earlier, from what I can gather the recent updates (on 16th) caused some problems, predominantely with the marketplace but also with other aspects of Xbox live...I'm having the exact same issue signing in to xbox live, and havent been anywhere near the marketplace.

They hope to have it fixed soon but no date or deadline has been given, so we'll probably just have to wait it out.

I'm very much with the wait-it-out consensus.

Luckily, I started working in Blockbuster about a year ago and, any new games I tend to rent to see if they're any good.

The only games I pay full whack for, usually, are Final Fantasy or FIFA (Final Fantasy because I love the series, and FIFA because I play a lot with my brother) Otherwise I either rent it (if it's a shortish title) or wait it out until its cheap (either on offer online, or preowned.)

There's no rule that says you have to play games when they first come out. I love Resident Evil, but I still haven't play RE5 because it's too expensive. I also quite enjoyed UFC 2009 but only rented it, and discovered it was not worth the money to buy in my opinion, so I just rent it every now and then to further my career mode and try to get a few achievements.

Thanks DJ

I know its quite a good service otherwise. Mine was working fine, literally until I turned it on today. I assumed it was probably to do with the updates but could not find any info on the official Xbox sites...nice to know it's not just me!

I'll leave it a while and hope it improves.

[QUOTE="XXGamerfanXX"]

COD 4 (Pretty short, but the replay value and the achievements made it worth it)

having just finished the single player mode myself I have to concur with that. Awesome, awesome game on your own. Forget the online, that is possibly the most involving FPS single player story I have gone through.

I agree that its maybe a bit silly moaning that stuff you can earn in game can be bought, because if you don't want to buy it then you don't have to. What frustrates me is useless DLC. I enjoy playing FIFA, I like to play virtual games of football on my ps3 or xbox. What I don't like is EA coming out and saying "We've got this amazing new thing...its exactly the same as the old thing, except it's like a trading card game...oh, and we'll say its free but actually it is £7.99...and we know you pay £39.99 year on year to buy yet a new, updated version of the same old game but, rather than work to make that expensive thing good, we'll develop some other money making scam."
OK, so, yeah maybe I don't have to buy it...but if I've paid good money for a game, and intend to continue paying good money for the series, I damn well expect little things like that to be free.

And don't get me started on map packs...I'm sick of being called 'cheap' or 'poor' by my friends on xbox because I haven't got the map packs on Call of duty...No, I don't, because I begrudge paying money for something that has, for all intents and purposes just been left out of the game in the first place to make money!

Either include it on the game, or make it free! There's a difference between DLC like GTA: The Lost and Damned (i.e. same city, but entirely new scenario) and a couple of maps, or a card game gimmick for a samey football game.

yes indeed I am!

So this may be a problem with the UK server...I'm hoping anyway, I hope we're not just being singled out!

So it's not just me then.
I mean, its not just downloads with me, its everything. I try to sign in to my account, there's a problem, It took me 20 minutes to get into one impossible-to-play laggy game of CoD: WaW.

Anyone know a fix, or a temporary solution.

I may just be starting something about which the discussion has already been finished but, I'm getting lots of problems with Xbox Live.

At first I thought it was because my months trial was running out but I've just put on a years subscription and it's still playing up. The connection is ludicrously slow, despite the fact that I have a good router, a fast broadband speed and relatively low bandwidth use by other devices.

i keep getting errors, telling me a variety of things including "You are connected to the internet fine, but could not connect to xbox live" which, well seems more like its their problem than mine but, if that's the case why do other people seem to be fine?

I just want to know if anyone else has this issue, or has had this issue and knows a fix...I feel rather irate that I paid for a years subscription for this service when my PS3 offers something, maybe a little more laggy, but a little less volatile than this!?
