How long does it take until u get ur 360 backtrophylocoste
They recieved mine and sent it back to me in under two days. The entire process took just over two weeks including the period I had to wait for the box. The shipping took 5-6 days each way.
[QUOTE="mernmern"][QUOTE="animefreeze"]Well I finally got the dreaded 3RROD, and I called up Microsoft, and talked to an agent and all that but as nice as the woman was I really could barley understand a word she said. I got my reference number and all that but she said something about if there is any "soldering" on the console that MS won't repair it, I really have absolutley no freakin clue what soldering is. And she also said to write or don't write Microsoft on the outside of the box they're sending me, so yea if anyone could clraify all this that would be a major help! and also does the box come with instructions on what you should or shouldn't do? and also, I recently tried the towel fix for the heck of it, but I only did it for 15 minutes instead of the average 30 mins, but does this void the warranty, and MS won't repair it or something?animefreeze
She was referring to soldering, which is often used when people mod their system. Obviously, you have nothing to worry about. I wrote the reference number on the outside of my box and they accepted my unit today. Lastly, directions will be included in the box and they will probably send you a number of emails that reiterate the instructions. Since you are sending it back, I wouldn't mess with the towel. Heck, I wouldn't mess with towel regardless.
Thanks Mermern! I know the the towel fix really isn't recomened, but it just got ridiculous for me when the 360 would just freeze up and RROD while just playing music... Anyways I do have 1 last question, do you need to pay anything when you got to the UPS and send it to MS? or do they just accept it as it is?
You will not have to pay for anything. In addition, I requested service via the xbox website and had no problems. I should also note that one day after MS received my xbox it is now listed as "shipped" with a tracking number. Granted only the shipping info has been received by UPS, but it looks like I might get a very quick turn around. Good luck.

the other day I turned my 360 on and it had the RROD, but when I restarted it, everything was normal again. Yesterday it had RROD for the second time when I was playing Mass Effect, but everything again backed to normal after a restart, any comments ??Bennhoc
I had the same issue for about 3 months. I would just let the RROD flash for 10 to 30 mins then restart it. This carried me through the major game releases, but eventually it RRinged for good. I sent it back last week. I decided to keep it until I could not longer restart it because I was afraid that if MS received it and it started without issue, they would just send it back to me.
I got the RROD last Thursday. I left it running for about 30 mins and restarted it and did not get the RROD. When I turned it off and on again about 3 hours later I got the RROD. I called it a night and tried again on Friday. Once again I got the RROD. I left it running and unplugged everything but the powder cord. After about 40 mins, I restarted it and it booted up properly. I then proceeded to leave it on the entire weekend (this time with a fan blowing on it) and the unit performed perfectly. I turned it off late last night and restarted it and did not get the RROD. I fired it up this morning and again did not get the RROD. I had already ordered the box to send the unit back to Microsoft, but now it is working. My guess is that the unit will fail at some point, but I cant send it back if it is working as all that will do is cost me gaming time.
In short, if you get the RROD once and manage to fire it up again without the RROD, I suggest you leave it running because when you restart it you might get the RROD again. Of course doing this might break something else, but if you want to make sure you get a weekend in, you might as well try it.
Has anyone gotten the RROD during a game as opposed to during start up?

Yes, I am quoting myself, but with good reason... I think. After two days of the RROD, my 360 has worked perfectly for over a week now. Has this happened to anyone else? As an aside, my unit is from early 2006.
