I thought Sony was going bankrupt in 2006. What ever happened to that? Oh, that's right. Put on your tinfoil hats, it's E3 time. Ego-testicle
they're in a worse situation now than 2006

[QUOTE="meronge"][QUOTE="PS360_Gamer"] Well thats EXACTLY what i said, "Sony is Richer Than Microsoft"..this was the first thing i said
and what about all the other years the companies made money....not a very good example
PS360_Gamer
let me ask you this, you say sony's assset is 250 billion. if you had 200 billion dollars, would you buy sony for $200 billion if they sell it at 200billion?
by your logic, you could sell everything and earn 50 billion
why does it matter if i buy it for 1 dollar or infinite dollars, how much i pay them doesnt change how much they have.....market value changes every day and it is based on current revenue, profit, and a whole lot of other things....it is just a reflection of how much something is worth at a current time, it is not a reflection of how much money that company hasi'm asking you, personally, would you buy sony for 200 billion? if you think its worth 250 billion, you'll be making 50 billion right?
RICHER? When do you ever hear stock traders say "X company is richer!", assets and revenues are meaningless in business when it's all about the bottom line. Case in point: Let me simplify it for you. Company A owns a console.... they sell it for $300 and loses $100 on it Company B also owns a console, they sells it for $100 and make $50 on it. Company A generated more revenue, but they lost $100, while Company B made $50 Company B is worth more. Well thats EXACTLY what i said, "Sony is Richer Than Microsoft"..this was the first thing i said[QUOTE="screechmario"][QUOTE="PS360_Gamer"] omg....we are not talking about a COMPANIES WORTH, we are talking about who is RICHER....we are talking about how much cash a company has, not how much cash they can get by selling...Can anybody hear me out there?PS360_Gamer

Sure it is. A Company that does, TV, MP3/4, Blu-ray readers and recorders, video games, Consoles, movies, music, photographic cameras, cameras, Home Cinema sets, Hi-Fi sets,GPS, Computers and a whole other bunch of accesories and hardware is going bankrupt because of the gaming devision.
rogerjak
a company that sells all those still didn't make any money :)
[QUOTE="meronge"][QUOTE="PS360_Gamer"] finally someone who understands......im getting annoyed by hearing "they only have 17 million because thats what their market value is"....HELLOPS360_GamerHello, would you pay MORE than the market value? when you buy anything, would you SERIOUS pay more than market value? if an used 2005 corolla's market value is $6000, would you pay more than the market value? OK, but what a company is worth is not HOW RICH THEY ARE! i will repeat this for you, OK but what a company is worth is not HOW RICH THEY ARE!
sony has a lot of debt...if i borrowed $100, i might be $100 richer but in reality, i don't have that $100 but it might look like i have $100
[QUOTE="meronge"][QUOTE="PS360_Gamer"] is the land was worth 20 dollars, then the asset (total cash VALUE) on that land would be 20 too, your mixing up your examples...PS360_Gamer
i'll say this once again, i would need 32 billion dollars to BUY sony and EVERYTHING that sony owns....why is it so hard for you to understand?
no, because sony would sell everything first and take the 230billion, spend it, then declare bankrupcy before they sold it for 17 billion... sigh, if sony decides to sell the company, the could only expect to get the market value, little more, or little less and if they file bankruptcy, it would be much less[QUOTE="mD-"]finally someone who understands......im getting annoyed by hearing "they only have 17 million because thats what their market value is"....HELLO Hello, would you pay MORE than the market value? when you buy anything, would you SERIOUS pay more than market value? if an used 2005 corolla's market value is $6000, would you pay more than the market value?Sony is the the bigger company. They are a giant media conglomerate that's involved in various types of businesses... Microsoft is just primarily a software company. Sony has more value because of their larger TOTAL ASSETS. Sony is definately having issues, but I don't know about them going bankrupt.

[QUOTE="meronge"]is the land was worth 20 dollars, then the asset (total cash VALUE) on that land would be 20 too, your mixing up your examples...if you bought a land for $100 but the value went down to $20, you don't EXPECT to sell your land for $100 but for only $20
THEREFORE sony is only worth 32 billion dollars

i'll say this once again, i would need 32 billion dollars to BUY sony and EVERYTHING that sony owns....why is it so hard for you to understand?
no dude, the market value is how much a company is worth, if you wanted to buy MS it would cost a 143 billion, if you wanted to buy SONY it would only cost you 17 billion, trust me i did a diploma in business and finance, SONY may have more liquid assets, but MS has far more hard assets, check out the links i gave to the forbes list of richest 2000 companys i posted, and don't even try to say the forbes list is not credible, you will just get laughed at. why not think about it in reality, u really think sony would sell for 17 billion when they have 230 billion in assets alone? this is why it doesnt show which is the richest company.....when u and ur friend want to see who has more money in there pocket, u count the cash and everything on them, not how much u think their watch would sell for.[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="PS360_Gamer"] once Again, we are not talking about Market Value, we are talking about who is the RICHER company, and Asset is the TOTAL CASH and TOTAL CASH VALUE of everything they own. that means if both companies decided to get all there money together to see who is richer, sony would stand with 200 billion, and microsoft would stand with 73 billion....PS360_Gamer

here, it's pretty old....2006 but it CLEARLY shows that microsoft is MUCH MUCH richer company
microsoft is at #3 while sony couldn't even break 100
if you bought a land for $100 but the value went down to $20, you don't EXPECT to sell your land for $100 but for only $20
THEREFORE sony is only worth 32 billion dollars
