It does not say x2 though, or am I just being a noob?

It says DRAM Frequency = 401.9mhz

jfreshmatrix

The frequency isn't actually X2, its that data can be read and written to the ram in one clock cycle i think. DRAM just means the ram is dynamic and not static.

This confused me at first as well. cpu-z is Reading the frequency before doubling, so instead of it being 800mhz it says 400mhz.

Iv got an 8800GT, and a gig of ram which is seriously holding it back, yet games look far better than anything on a console.

[QUOTE="michael098"]From what you guys are saying it sounds like its my ram. Is having 1gig really not enough for your average game now? Iv only just got my graphics card and i got company of heroes with it. im playing it on max at 1024X768, it runs at an average of about 50-60fps but when alot of action is on screen it can slow down to 40 or even 30fps at times, surly this is not because of my graphics card, could it be my ram (1gig)_Margulis_

1GB of RAM hasn't been enough for gaming since 2004 for XP or Vista and if your running Vista I'd get at least 3gb just to get around the preloading problem or if you have XP at least 2gb (or for company of heroes 2.5gb since that game uses a lot of memory).

With 1gb of RAM your computer is having to swap a lot of files off the harddrive, especially in CoH at Max since that game uses up more memory than the average game.

Really? that explains everything then, i knew 1gig was not enough but i didn't realise how much more i really needed, that's fine though, ram is so cheap now i can easily get another 1 or 2 gigs, thanks for the help.

My PC has an old IDE harddrive and i think its causing some problems, not only do game take long to load but when they do load for the first minute or two the game barley runs, stuttering at around 5-10fps. I know its not my other hardware, i have an 8800GT, an athlon X2 4000 and a gig of ram, once iv being in the game for awhile it will run smoothly, quiting out of games also takes longer than it should, i know my ram isn't the cause of this problem because i have the same problem with games that don't need anything near 1gig. So an i right that it could be the harddrive? Or is it something else?

I have the DC optimizer too. But even if the game is cpu intensive i wouldn't think a dualcore overclocked to 2.3ghz would have such a big impact on performance. It is the developers first game i think so that could be another reason.
