I'd say around the 1990s...

Because sampling became a huge thing and artists of that generation lacked creativity and they kept relying on old music of the 70s, they no longer played instruments, you could become a singer without having to actually sing, Soundscan became a huge culprit (basically it was all about how much you can sell within 1 week and it was no longer about your artistry).

The majority of the genres were no longer at it's peak. E.g. R&B, when rappers got involved with R&B music, sampling, the lyrical content was literally just about bedroom music and nothing more anymore.

Rock music. It was all about noise and lack of guitar riff raffs and grunge literally copied everything that 70s rock did and all grunge music was about was men crying about how miserable their lives were and they wanted to kill themselves.

There was exactly a brand name that represented their decades (even David Bowie said this)

Many more I can list.

What about you ?

Man... You 70s and 80s babies have no idea what you missed out regarding the 1970s then lol.

Amazing films, music, boxing was at its best, TV shows, the golden age of vinyl LPs, 8 track tapes, when ticket prices were actually cheap, we didn't stay indoors and just played video games (which unfortunately that has been happening since the 90s), we actually remember life before internet boom happened in the 90s. So many more to mention

Probably some 70s or 80s baby... If not, don't talk about music... No offence but your generation grew up with crap regarding music.

I'm so "old" I remember What's Going On back in 1971, Stevie Wonder's prime from 1971-1976, seeing Muhammad Ali's boxing matches on BBC.

That's a few things you little Gen X babies born in the 70s can't relate since you all weren't born yet.

@kazumakiryu21: I'm asking if you're a younger fan of hers because Donna's prime was 75-79 and the majority of her core fans are baby boomers. So are you?

@kazumakiryu21:

From the 80s? Younger generation Donna Summer fan? I only ask because her career fell off hard after the Disco years unfortunately

Sly Stone (saw them live in 1970 in London with my dad).

Stevie Wonder (saw him in 72is if I remember correctly)

Marvin Gaye

Honourable mention. Donna Summer (anyone who is a baby boomer generation and wasn't born in the 70s would get why). Her music meant so much to me back then.

Great question OP
