I recently dug out my collection of old PC classics and went through some of them , and when I got to thinking I noticed almost all of the awesomest games were released in the 90s.

Games were sophisticated , had depth, made you think (or atleast work hard for that red/blue key). The 90s was the decade in witch 3d games evolved. Think of Wolfenstein , Doom , Quake and Half Life. Think of Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver.Think of Jedi Knight and Heretic 2.RTS while not taking their first steps into 3D also evolved - C&C (Tiberian Dawn ) Red Alert , StarCraft , Age of Empires , Caesar 3 , Zeus etc.

Sony got into the console market , Nintendo released Gameboy Color and Intel released Pentium 1 to 3 .

Its funny how technology advanced in the 90s.I got to installing Dark Forces 2/Jedi knight and upon installing the setup asked if I would like the "high res" features installed.Said it might slow down performance (And if I were to install it on the rig I had back around 1997 it very well might have). Turns out that meant it was direct3d enabled and the default res is 640x480 instead of 320x240.

So what are your favovite games of the 90s?

Just wait until Trixxx release their first Kinect game. Kinect sales will rocket skyhigh I bet. If MS allow it that is, guess ripping someones head off while knee deep in blood and gore is OK but some interactive pron is the devil incarnate

Two reasons IMO

1 God of war 3

2 Uncharted

Those are the two games that make me wanna buy a PS3 but Ive used my 360 for so long and this gen is nearing the end of its life cicle

The first 6 GTAs especially GTA 3 are my most beloved games , and Id like to see them remade. GTA 1 , London and 2 may still be top down but with an updated engine like CTW but HD

Its more than 10 years but Id like to see a remake of Shadow Warrior, not in my all time favorites but a great game nonetheless , also Heretic 2 and all SW Jedi Knight games , they were fun, not like that Force Unleashed c**p. Legacy of Kain yeah them too

I dunno prev gen was pretty awesome , so many awesome IPs : God of War , Halo , Jak and Dax, Fable , Splinter Cell just to name a few. So much advancements in the industry, we saw GTA 3 which started the whole sandbox wave.

Cur Gen surely delivered as well. So many good (and not so much) shooters and RPGs mainly IMO.

I personally say they are even

Compare Gun to GTA

TheGrayEye

Its not a secret that all sandbox games are in one way or another inspired by GTA

You just do the same thing I did only by a different indicator. You compare Gun to GTA in the sense that they are both open world but RDR has more common concepts with Gun that with GTA. Same goes to Gun - its way more similar to RDR than to GTA. If we folow your logic Oblivion is inspired by GTA because its open world and you ride horses freely.

I call shenanigans on this thread until tight rules about what is a rip-off are established
