I own a Wii and a PS3 So far, I've spent more money on virtual console games than I ever will on anything in the PS store. I don't know too much about the Xbox marketplace, but after looking at their games, I'd say that I want Banjo and Portal 2, but that's pretty much it. BTW, I'm typing this on my Wii opera browser. EDIT: I'm only talking about downloadable games, not add-ons for games. I think I've easily spent over $100 on Rock Band songs.

so what exactly are you gonna be doing online if you dont care to play first person shooters, which are basically the only games played online, and you dont care about downloadable content, and you dont care to talk with people. seems to me like you should just stick with single player and not even worry about online.makchady
How about rhythm games, or racing games, or party games, or MMORPGs, or fighting games? First Person Shooters don't make up everything, m'friend

Okay maybe I need to clarify this. I own a Wii and a PS3, but not a 360. I'm seriously considering on getting a 360 now that it has Netflix, Portal 2, and Rare games.

The thing is, I rarely play online, so I was asking for your input to get your opinions on what online deserves the most of my attention. The 360 sounds like a promising online gaming system because it has a larger online community (more people playing online on the 360 than the other two) and it doesn't seem to have too many technical issues. The only catch is that you have to pay for online multiplayer, but that is really not a problem for me.

As for this FPS business, I don't despise it. After all, I enjoyed Portal. I just don't like it NEARLY as much as platformers. It probably comes from growing up with 2D side-scrollers and RPGs. Those are, to me, the best games of all time. Now that the world has gone HD, it seems that game devs are always trying to make everything shiny and 3D. That's why I appreciate games like Super Paper Mario and Super Smash Bros.

The wii is a crappy system. The only good game is wii sports and thats a friggen demo!

The 360 is good, but theres alot of fps.

The Ps3 is very shiny, but theres sadly, no games at all. *or i would have bought it in an instant, so i had to go to the 360.*

You'll win either way if you get the ps3 or 360. Not the wii its a pile of ****

The Wii is not a good online system when it comes to certain live action games, but I own more games on the Wii than on my PS3. In fact, the only games I really play on my PS3 nowadays are Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It saddens me to hear that you are under the impression that there are no good games on the Wii. It really sounds like you are in denial, or maybe you just don't have enough experience with the system. You really ought to actually try out games like Super Mario Galaxy or the Wii version of LoZ: Twilight Princess (I played through the Gamecube version; the Wii version is better).

I cant beleive you said wii only cause there is NO GAMES FOR IT that are online i mean Smash is the only decent one in my opinion. I already said that I don't like laggy gameplay. As much as I love Super Smash Bros., it has laggy online.

PSN might be better but the community isnt even a fourth of the 360s. If you dont talk it shouldnt matter because i still think the 360 you will always find a game no matter what psn not so much. Okay, you've a point there.

There might be a few times you might want to use your mic on some team co op stuff even like in Halo 3 team slayers you dont need but in Call of Duty 4 You will want to on the team stuff it just depends but you can still hear people right? Wrong. I was careful to mention my stance on FPS's.

So all of the games you dont need to but you can and it might make it even more enjoyable and if you buy the 50$ pack that comes with 13 months with a 7% tax rate it is $4.11 so its not much at all so if 4.11 a month is too much for you then maybe XBL is not for you but I think you will greatly enjoy all the demos and the FREE dlc. I never said money was a big issue, but I did mention that DLC wasn't a big issue for me.IvanElk

If you want to dispute my preferences directly, rather than taking them into consideration, at least mention that you bothered to read my first post before stating your opinion.

Some of your points totally point you to 360, while some others totally point you to PS3.

It's between PS3 and 360 for you IMO. I'd just go look at their list of games and compare which one has more titles you're interested in.

The reason I rule out the Wii is because you obviously seem to want online play one way or the other, and Wii really doesn't have the online gaming setup in the bag. It does, however, have many games that aren't FPS.

There's my 2 cents.

Consider these before posting your suggestion:

1. I'm not the bragging type. Being good at video games is not exactly a huge achievement in life.

2. I don't like talking to people while I'm playing a game, unless communication between players is crucial to the objective of the game.

3. I don't like laggy gameplay.

4. I couldn't care less about high definition.

5. If it's a FPS, I don't own it, and I probably never will own it (this includes Metroid, Halo, and Resistance).

6. Exclusive DLC is not particularly important to me, but it is nice to have.

Which online would you recommend for me after reading these characteristics of me?

XBOX 360?
PLAYSTATION 3?
WII?

Keep in mind that I'm asking you to choose the best of these three only, so if you mention PC, I will ignore you.

But about the Wii thing, I own one (got it for Christmas, never asked for it) and so far only plan on getting Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart. I'm sure I'll enjoy them, but at least in the case of Mario Kart I would have prefered a real controller. The Wiimote is good for a few things, but in many instances games would be better with a real remote, in my subjective opinion anyways. I have a lot more to say on the matter, but this is not the place for it.

Mario Kart Wii can be played with the classic controller and the gamecube controller, just like super smash bros. brawl, so there you go.
