I've never seen many Nintendo advertisements on this site, and the editors don't seem to care too much for the Nintendo shift that is happening. I don't know whether this is a sign of not caring because Nintendo isn't an advertiser or if they don't want to advertise Nintendo because they don't like them.

There is a huge difference between a video on the internet and watching it with component cables on an HDTV.

I think you just like to run your mouth to get reactions out of people.

We all know that gamespot's reviews suck no matter what console you support, thats not why most people come here. That shouldn't be your prime reason for leaving, but Yeah, the bickering on here is very childish. I have a few other boards I go to first.

I would just wait till next fall and get the $300 SKU with 250 GB, 2 HDMI, 8 USB ports, backwards compatibility added back, etc.

Or you can wait 4 more years and get the model that is 500 GB with stereoscopic 3D compatibility and PS4 compabitibility.

In short, Why would you buy ANY product that is going to be outdated or replaced after a year or even months by the same Company who made the prior model????? Especially when the newer models are sometimes DOWNGRADES! These SKUs are a desperate attempt to have a good holiday in light of Xbox 360 and Wii interest. In which case, you have to wonder if it is good to buy ANY of the SKUs as there is no gaurantee that they will achieve that or last through this generation.

Playstation 1 won because Nintendo and Sega both made drastic mistakes that left third parties with only one option. Sega's mistake was an unprepared surprise launch. Nintendo's mistake was to urinate all over third parties during the SNES era whilst giving Sony the blueprint for a successful console and then leaving them to it.

Playstation 2 won largely because of the fact that it was a cheap DVD player against Sega with no money, new to the scene Microsoft, and a lackluster Nintendo console.

This time the competition is much fiercer, and Sony are going to have their work cut out for them.

Combine this with the topic creator and that just about covers it except for a little in between the lines. For instance, The reason that PS2 had so many games was because of the huge userbase generated by the DVD player and carry over from PS1. The odd thing is is that even with Wii selling as well as it is, teams are still wary about Nintendo, where they would eat Sony up all day long during the last 2 gens.

[QUOTE="Rocky32189"]

I'm glad you like both of them but that's not something you and Nintendo agree upon.

What are you talking about? Nintendo was very happy with Retro's work on both games. They are one of Nintendo's most prized second party developers. That is why they kept going back time and time again for them to develop games for one of their most prized franchises. Not only that but Nintendo representatives for Japan worked closely with Retro to make sure they were fufilling their vision for the Metroid series. Why would they be unhappy with something they helped create?
They have never said they were unhappy with both games. Why don't you give some proof to back up your fabricated statements.

As far as not playing the games? Sure there's not a breakdown of each game plus numerous walkthroughs to read. There's absolutely no way I could know what goes on in the first two games. lol

Reading about a game and playing it is completely different. Stop making things up because you have no idea what you're talking about since you've never played the games.

Nintendo stuck to their word and changed the forumla to make it better, it's as simple as that

Once again, the formula is exactly the same with only a few minor tweaks. You wouldn't know because you've never played the first two games. Don't talk about something you don't know nothing about. It just makes you look foolish.

Jaysonguy

Look, Reggie came out twice this year and said that Nintendo wasn't pleased with the way the Metroid series had gone and that Prime 3 was going in a totally different direction from Prime 2. If you don't agree with Nintendo that's fine. I can't give you a link to my TV but considering I have no need to make things up I guess that's just gonna have to do.

Of course Nintendo can be disappointed with something they made. Who made the rules that says they can't?

The formula is NOT the same from 2. How many other people do you need to explain to you that Prime 3 is not like Prime 2? Reggie has said it, people in this thread have said it, others have said it in threads before this one. The word is out.

If you don't want to believe it that's fine, doesn't make it any less true.

He didn't mean gameplay. He meant SALES. They were not happy with the reception it recieved and wanted to cater the new game toward what people expect out of a First Person Action title: Voice Acting, More Ship Action, More FMV sequences, More Character interaction, a More social storyline to feel a part of a group, easier to finish. Metroid has always been solitary and dark to where people didn't want to play it, and also very complex to remember where everything is and master the map. It was too obscure and hardcore even for many hardcore gamers. Halo is NOTHING like that, neither is most other FPS (type) games out there that are popular. So they added in some of those elements but in a way that was acceptable to Nintendo.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN PRIME 1 AND 2 were not MAJOR achievements in game designs and instant c-lass-ics! (Why did Gamespot mod the word c-lass-ics??) You will NOT see MP3 be in the top ten of gamerankings, but you will probably never see Prime 1 drop below the top ten. Why? Because it is by far the better game! GO PLAY IT! Because it is better than most games out this generation still! You can get it for $10 or less and it will fit in your Wii.

[QUOTE="mmnin"]When Did Waluigi get cool? Everybody used to hate him. He moves funky, purple sucks as a color for a game character, no offence to NiGHTS or Spyro fans, but his worst asset is his name. "Wario" makes sense, but "Waluigi" is just too Japanese to pass. It should have kept with the pattern and been Ruigi or something. Anyway. My vote is Waluigi. Duckman5

I believe this will clear up the confusion about his name.

"Waluigi's name has a dual-meaning in Japanese. The Japanese word "warui" (??, "warui"?) means "bad" or "evil" ("Warui" is also a condescending way of apologizing, as opposed to "gomennasai", or "sumimasen" which are more polite). This means that Waluigi's name is a portmanteau of "warui" and "Luigi" and essentially means "Evil Luigi". Many believe his name to be a cheap offshoot of Wario's name rather than being derived from Luigi's name."

Hm. Didn't know it to that detail. Thank you for the info. Looking at your icon, I can tell you also like Waluigi. Was he really good in strikers or something?

My contribution to the whole Yoshi/Birdo debate.

Birdo has many times been referred to as a female Yoshi, however Birdo used to be referred to as a male. Both Birdo and Yoshi can produce eggs, Birdo through her snout, and Yoshi by entering his snout (head) and exiting his rear. Now in this species, laying eggs does not mean female. My hypothesis is is that Yoshi and Birdo are both asexual but they mate. They are different forms of the same type race and Birdo is a feminine form while Yoshi is a masculine form.

If you look at it in the right way, they are the closest thing to a well known gay video game couple that we know of, and also probably the oldest example of homosexual content in video games.
